I was alonein bed with Alex, waiting for his knot to release me.

Jack had left the house with Liam and Ryan to grab things from their packhouse. The rest of the alphas were scattered, and I had no idea where they disappeared to. It felt so good laying here with Alex deep inside me, his warm body covering mine from behind. His knot inside me relieved a lot of the pain from my heat, giving me exactly what I needed.

At the same time, I felt slightly hurt that he wasn’t ready to mark me as his.

“When will that happen?” I asked.

“When the time is right and when you’re ready for me, baby,” he said, rubbing circles on my back as I lay on my stomach. He lightly bit my earlobe, and I yelped. “And you won’t have any regrets when that day comes.”

“I miss my baby,” I sighed.

I couldn’t fully enjoy myself and be happy knowing that each day Gabe was at the palace. Were they treating him right? Feeding him properly? A sense of urgency grew in my stomach. Alex seemed to sense it, and he immediately started to purr into my ear again, calming my anxiety.

“I can’t wait to meet the little guy,” said Alex, pushing himself further into me as the knot began to loosen.

“He has curly blond hair and the most beautiful blue eyes,” I said. “I miss his sloppy kisses and his smell.”

“Gabe sounds like he might break a few omegas’ hearts in the future,” chuckled Alex. “Don’t worry. We’ll get him back as soon as your heat is over.”

“I can handle myself. Please get him,” I said. “You can leave an alpha or two with me here. Or you all can go and get him.”

I tried to turn my body around to see him. His eyebrows were pressed together.

“I would need to talk to Jack. To figure out the best course of action,” said Alex. “We can’t simply wage war on the Royal Pack. You have seven males, but we are not enough to bring down all their guards to crash in and save your baby. Gabe is also their prince.”

My face crumpled, and I sighed. “I know.”

He pressed his hand against the side of my face.

“One way or another, we will find a way. I don’t want my omega worrying, okay?”

“I’ll try not to.”

“He’s their son. They’ll take care of him.”

I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. My eyes were beginning to well with tears, and my emotions were heightened tremendously with my heat. Alex silently hugged me from behind, kissing and purring against me.

Later that day, the alphas came back into the room after I had taken a nap.

“Wake up, honey,” said Laurent, kissing me on the cheek. Stirring awake, I noticed it was dark outside already, and Alex was snoring beside me. The room was dark and cozy. I wiggled out from the warm nest under his arm and blearily gazed at him.

“I’m so tired,” I said, feeling a pang of the heat circle around my waist.

Alex was starting to stir, yawning loudly, which sounded more like a roar.

“Sorry,” he muttered when he saw me staring wide-eyed at him.

“We have a surprise for you,” said Laurent. “But we need to get you out to the van.”

“But I want to take a shower first!” I protested as Laurent picked me up from the bed.

“No time for that,” he said. “You’re in heat, honey.”
