My task is done in seconds and I let out a breath of relief as I hurry back out to the pool to do my rounds.. Yes, it may be an excuse to see her again, but not entirely. It is part of my job.

Pretending not to watch her, I start making my way around the pool, nodding to some guests, smiling at others. A group of girls giggle as I give them attention. Normally, I would have stopped and flirted a little until I got an invitation to one of their rooms, but the thought doesn’t cross my mind now.

Jealousy wells up as I near the lounger Gorgeous is sitting in. There are two men towering over her. They are comparable to my height and weight, but the odd thing is their hair color; the one on the right is white and the left has green.

There’s a familiarity there but that only fuels the fire.

To my great surprise, my brother Warrick is leaning against the wooden bar top with a smirk on his lips. He’s been watching me and apparently I haven’t been hiding my appreciation of her well enough.

He raises an eyebrow to me. “So, what do you think of the blonde?”

“Trouble, never has my willpower been pushed to the brink like this. Did you have the same reaction?”

He nods and grimaces. “There’s no way she is mortal, and if she is, I am unsure what magick is at play. Why is she here?”

“I agree, brother. Did you come down to spy on her or are you here on business?”

“Both. Our guest here had a run in with a couple that was stirring a shit pot. I reviewed the tapes, and she was truthful with her recount of events. I’ve asked the couple to leave the property and need to inform Blondie that the issue is resolved.”

“So, what are you waiting for?” I ask, raising an eyebrow. Now it’s my turn to watch him make a fool of himself. She was the epitome of unbothered.

“I’m working up the courage. You aren’t the only one with restraint difficulties. It’s like a compulsion to be near her.” He pauses and runs a hand over his stubble, something he doeswhen he’s thinking. “She can’t be a vampire since she loves the sun. I didn’t sense any glamor from her. She’s a mystery I want to unravel.”

“Me too, brother. Let’s give her the good news. Maybe if we go together, it’ll ease our suffering. But do it with care, I believe that she can take up for herself, I watched her flick a wrist and that bitch was in the water.”

Warrick rolls his eyes and heads toward our girl.

As we approach, I notice she has turned to lie on her stomach. I take in her lean, toned ass. Her choice of an azure bikini was excellent, complementing her skin tone.

Gah, what’s happening to me? I’m not the guy to notice stuff like that. Mental facepalm.

We stop in front of her chair to greet her and she startles at the interruption.

As she sits up her top dips down and I bite back a gasp as it exposes more of her ivory white skin. I fight the smile that threatens to break out on my lips as her fingers are hard at work to tie her top.

I step closer, kneeling and skimming my fingers along her spine as I seize the strings from her hands. She shudders as I do, and I force myself to take a deep breath to focus my attention on my brother, not the beautiful woman in front of me.

Warrick shakes his head in disapproval. Once I have the strings in place, I return to stand next to Warrick.

I barely remember the conversation, my mind too busy with thoughts of what she’s hiding under that bikini and the strange pull I feel towards her.

When we’re out of ear shot, Warrick turns to me with a desperate look. I expected him to be annoyed but he’s too far gone.Same, brother.

“Since you got up close to her, what are your thoughts on what she is?”

“I didn’t get any vibes from her. Other than she isn’t mortal. It took everything I had in me not to touch more of her than her spine. We better discuss this with the other two. I wonder which one she’ll cross paths with next?”

Warrick pulls out his phone and a few clicks later I have his attention again.

“I told Drevi and Frank to meet us in my office. We can discuss the situation more there.”

On the way to his office we keep up appearances, smiling and trading greetings with guests as they pass. A few of the women try to slip their key cards into our hands as we pass but this time we both decline their invitations.

I’ve never been so relieved to reach the safety of Warrick’s office.

“It’s about time, what took you two so long?” Drevi pipes up.

“We were accosted by a few guests when we rejected their room keys.”
