Matt hesitated. Ben looked equally nervous. He cleared his throat.
“Then whoever you don’t choose to be with will respect your decision and step back. We won’t make it uncomfortable for you.”
“You would be willing to do that?” Callie asked.
“Not willingly, but whatever you wanted. That’s what we care about.”
Callie stared up at Matt.
“You think the same thing?”
“Yes.” Matt nodded. “Whatever you want, Callie. It’s always been about you.”
When she was younger and in university, Callie had really struggled to find guys who were attracted to her. They gave her a wide berth, and it really knocked her confidence. Now she had two guys who were attracted and actually wanted her? It was making her head spin.
One of them would step away if she chose the other? Callie couldn’t do that.
Making up her mind, Callie tugged Matt’s head down and kissed him. Matt started, but then he kissed her back. She pulled away before he could grab at her, and she looked at Ben. He looked downcast, pushing himself off the table.
“So, I guess the old man here has lost,” he muttered.
“Don’t you dare.” Callie went to him. “Don’t call yourself an old man again.”
She grabbed his head and kissed him. Ben froze, and for a second it seemed like he was going to push her away. But then his arms tightened around her, and Callie tried not to sink into the embrace as his mouth devoured hers. She managed to break the kiss, turning in his arms to face Matt, who looked bewildered.
“I can’t choose,” Callie admitted. “Please don’t make me choose, because I don’t want to.”
Matt raised his eyebrows.
“So that means…?”
“I know it’s unconventional, and I have no idea how we’re going to work it out, but I want to be with both of you. And not just for a couple of romps in bed.” Callie felt her cheeks getting warm, but she ploughed on. “I have feelings for both of you. Choosing would be incredibly difficult. Please, don’t ask me to choose, because that would be one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life.”
For a moment, neither of them said anything. Then Matt stepped towards her and kissed her softly, turning her head so Ben could kiss her as well.
“I’m sure we can work it out,” Matt said. “We’re all adults, after all?”
“Very horny adults,” Ben growled, shifting against Callie.
She felt his erection pressing against her hip, and she grinned, kissing his jaw.
“You’re always horny, aren’t you?”
“When you’re around, absolutely.” Ben looked at Matt. “How long until we’ve got to get ready to leave?”
“About three hours, at the minimum. If you want us to eat before we go.”
“Three hours.” Ben’ grin was devilish. “I think we can get plenty done in three hours. We can consider this our warmup, if you like.”
Callie didn’t need to guess what he was talking about. She giggled.
“Don’t use up too much stamina. You won’t be able to swim later if you do.”
“You let us worry about you.” Matt leaned in and kissed her neck. “After all, we still need to find how to make you tap out.”
Callie laughed, which was silenced by Matt’s mouth as Ben slid his hands under her t-shirt. This was certainly one way towarm up for a race. And three of them were going to be winning regardless.
