I nod but my sass doesn’t stop. “Sir, yes, sir.” Something inside me just wants to piss him off. “Want to kiss my ass too, sir?” I’m aghast at this sassy me. I mean, I’m crass but not like this! This is the brattiest sassiest I think I’ve ever been in my life and it’sallto get a rise out of this Orc.
His eyes blaze hot before he takes a deep breath and cools like the ocean splashing on lava. Sssst. Hard as a rock. No. I meant cold as arock. But as he stands to his full height, I notice a slight lift to his harem pants. Oh. Not like a rock, but we’re getting there.
A smug smile quirks my lips as I look up at him. He snorts. “Breasts are breasts.” My mouth gapes open like a fish as it is his turn to smile smugly before turning from me.
U’snar just shakes his head at Jaedason and murmurs something in their Orc tongue. Jaedason smacks U’snar in the back of the arm and U’snar lets out a bark of laughter. At least they’re on good terms. But I really wasn’t expecting to be sleeping in the same room as Jaedason. Even if all three of us didn’t mate, I really was thinking about at the very least blowing U’snar. I mean, who’s gonna fault me? He’s sweet and really good looking. I’ve felt small before next to a guy but I’ve never felt tiny and protected like I do next to him.
I rub my eyes with the palms of my hands. Oh, I could see this going very badly.
CHAPTER TWELVE: HEAT
I last five entire minutes before I find myself poking around. Too many weapons to make me comfortable. In fact, I don’t even know why they would need them aside from the mild hostility humans give them. But I haven’t seen or heard of all out warring. They even make jewelry to trade or sell, U’snar said so. But I wonder who is actually selling them. Are there other humans besides me? I don’t recall seeing any beating the rugs. I don’t try to move them because they seem in a strange hazardous organization.
I wonder how long they’ll be gone. I see a basket next to the door, next to the pile of clothing that likely needs washing. Especially considering that is where Jaedason tossed U’snar’s shirt. I roll my eyes. Men are the same everywhere. Doesn’t matter what damned universe or world you’re in!
I remember once, I’d had a lover who lived with me. Briefly, I might add. Because he was an even bigger slob than I was. To top it off? Helping me with chores was him reminding me that shit needed to get done and sitting down towatchme do the chores while he waited for queues in his games. His contribution was taking out the trash. I was done with him after a couple months. It only took that long because I knew he was just getting settled originally. But the laststraw that broke the camels back so to speak, was when I clearly informed him of my displeasure of his ‘joining’ in the cleaning. Wherein he informedmethat hismothersaid that is a woman’s job and he doesn’t need to step in.
I told him if he feels that way, he can go date his mother. I had him packed within two days. He was stammering the entire time.
I look down at the mess, glowering at it like it’s talking shit to me. But in reality, I’m only annoyed that the place is actually really clean and not damp like you’d think a cave should be. Especially when you think Orc or monsters. They aren’t supposed to be civilized enough to wear pants, or dresses of any fashion, like the few female Orcs I had seen outside wearing. They shouldn’t have rugs that they know how to beat or hamper baskets for crying out loud!
I pick up the clothing that smells absolutely amazing. Like sinfully so, and I push them into the basket. I slam it close. My breathing is heavy and my tummy aches with tension and pure need. I feel clenching at my core and I’m wet, like I’d just peed myself. What in the fuck.
Okay, then. Under no circumstances should I be near their dirty clothes. Nope, nope, nope. I look apprehensively at Jaedason’s room. Oh, that’s probably gonna be worse. Cringing, I take a deep breath. Distractions. That’s what I need. I sit back down staring at the tiny metal links on the table, the gems in what looks like a petri dish, and a magnifying glass.
Oooh. Is this where Jaedason makes his jewelry?? I look to my left and see an inconspicuous dresser. It blends into the shadows. I get out of the chair and walk up to the hulking thing. There are several drawers of varying sizes and I realize it’s not exactly a dresser but more like a cabinet because there are little cut out holes for door knobs.
I gasp in surprise. Inside this cabinet are amazingly crafted pieces of work. Tanzanite. Topaz. I see a sapphire. Those black pearls! A purple-red gem that is held in a specific dish by its lonesome. I wonder why.
“What are you doing?” My eyes widen as I feel hands wrap around my waist. I’m abruptly turned around. I stare into hardened honey.
“I-I was just looking around.” My words stammer out of me like a caron a bumpy road.
He removes a hand from my waist and the cabinet clicks closed behind me. “Do no’.”
I awkwardly nod, since my head is at nearly a 90-degree angle. “Okie dokie.”
He glares at me a moment longer before stepping out of my personal bubble. I take a deep breath of air but still smell him. Taste him on my tongue. Wonderful citrus. I nearly whine. Nearly. But I swallow it by turning away from him and bite my lip to silence myself. “So, what am I to do around here? While I wait for you two to do whatever it is you need to do?” I look over my shoulder when he doesn’t reply. He’s just arching a brow and leaning against the cabinet. Oh, it figures! He’s as tall as the damn thing! “You know, because you’re the chief and U’snar is the chief in training.”
He harrumphs and sits at the table. I groan. “Jeezus. What are you a teen? I thought you were turning 70.”
“U’snar speaks much.”
“Yeah, well, he was trying to get me used to the idea of being mated to a sweet Orc and apparently an ass.” I sit across from him on the little table but he just shakes his head. “Whatever.”
It takes me two hours of mindlessly sitting on my ass, staring at him doing something, I’m not sure which, before I stand. He looks up from his tinkering under that magnifying glass before looking back down. “What?”
I ignore him and walk to U’snar’s room.
A low grumbling growl reverberates through the air. I look over my shoulder to the fire in his eyes. “No.” The words are more guttural than actual words.
“I’m just looking. You’re busy so let me look around.” He lets out a deep sigh before standing. I groan. “You’re kidding me?”
He raises his brows his features shuttering to me. Even if there was an inkling of emotion, now he is a blank canvas. “I have no kit.”
“Never mind. Just stay and do your jewelry making. I’ll just look through U’snars stuff. I’m sure he will not mind.” He shakes his head and walks over to me and I don’t continue to look at him. I’m too annoyed and his eyes are too much like U’snar’s that it actually hurts a little the way he regards me with such annoyance half the time. But the only other part I can look at on him while staring straight ahead is his stomach and now I’m even more irritated. I mean, if I’m madenough I can just punch him in the dick, I guess.
Or suck it.
