Page 86 of We Are All Sinners

We went to breakfast after at Café Fleur De Lis. She decided on their Seriously Southern Breakfast with all savory things, while I opted for the bourbon street Breakfast with all the sweet stuff, and we shared.

She didn’t start freaking out until we got home, and it all hit her again, like a ton of bricks.

I think it’s the fact that everything is about to change. Whether it’s a good change or not, we won’t know until we take the plunge today. We just have to keep everything we have set in motion progressing.

My little witch realizes now, more than ever, that every move we make will have consequences. We just don’t know who will suffer those consequences. Whether it’s us, or the ones trying to rip us apart again, we know it’s coming either way.

I know I’m running out of time.

Brixon puts his hand on my thigh, calming my bouncing leg. He leans down to my ear, whispering, “I’ve got you, just breathe, baby.”

I lean into his arm, sliding my arm under his, “I’m okay.” I whisper, letting out a breath.

My pulse quickens when Alec, Joe, Jasper, Nick, Charlie, and the priest walk out onto the stage from the back, taking their places in front of the alter as music begins to play.

I look around the beautiful church, decorated with light pink and white roses of every shape and size, accented with baby’s breath, pearls, and clear rhinestones. Pink and white silk bunting drapes the church in a way not to mask anything but accentuate its beauty.

Brix lightly squeezes my thigh, reminding me I’m not alone, when he feels me take in a deep breath as we watch Savvy slowly make her way down the aisle and up to her designated spot, giving Alec a reassuring nod. She turns to the crowd watching as each of her friends come and take their places beside her.

Brixon mentioned that Liam had told Alec to add Savvy and Christian to the wedding to show that they are a unit. The Saints are changing, and the boys have to send a message, showing what they stand for.

I feel a tear slip down my cheek when I see Cami come out and I see how beautiful she looks. She is thriving, just like I always knew she would.

The rest of the Devereaux crew comes out before the cutest flower girl I have ever seen makes her appearance.

She has dark curly hair with little flowers and pearls in a crown on top of her head. She is in a princess-like white fluffy dress with a light pink sash that ties into the perfect bow on her back. The petite little thing bounces down the aisle, giggling, and tossing handfuls of pink and white rose petals onto the white silk draped isle.

I can’t help but wonder, is she what our children would look like.

The music stops, making everyone stand to watch as the large double doors open back up, revealing Christian with M.J. on his arm in the most beautiful strapless gown, I have ever seen. Her smile reaches her eyes as she looks up the long aisle to the man she has chosen to be hers.

I notice Savvy smirking at her husband through the tears that well up in her eyes. I see the love between them. I have watched them both during the last month, showing their love for each other and their family in so many different ways.

Brix hands me a tissue when he hears me sniff. I dab my eyes, trying to contain the continuously building liquid threatening to ruin my makeup, more than it already has.

I watch as my brother kisses M.J.’s hand before placing it in Alecs.

We listen to the couple recite their vows, go through all the motions, and finally, I watch the bride and groom give each other a very PDA first kiss as husband and wife.

Christian and Savvy are the last to walk back down the aisle, this time arm in arm, looking every bit, the power couple they have become.

I envy them as we stand, watching them all live their happily ever after. They have no idea how much I idolize them. They beat the odds.

I grip Brixon’s arm, feeling all the emotions right now.

I follow the line out, waiting for the right opportunity to present itself.

I feel Brix grip my hand tighter as we make our way out of the church and straight towards Christian and Savvy.

“Hey, Devereaux, congrats on the new baby boy! Thanks for inviting me. I would like to introduce you to my plus one.” Brixon hollers as we approach closer.

I watch my brother turn to me, eyes going wide as he stumbles backwards for a split second but recovers quickly. He looks to Brix who I know is telling him no.

“Brixon, nice to see you man!” Christian replies, extending his hand out to shake Brixon’s, while keeping a firm grip on his wife.

He doesn’t trust him yet and that’s ok.
