“Come, we’re all a little distressed from the Alpha’s visit,” she murmurs quietly. She motions for us to follow and leads the way out of the room, much to the relief of the women.

“Can’t blame them. He’s unhinged.”

“Who are you?” Candice asks after looking around the empty hallway, now turning her attention fully to Scarlett. The front door is on the ground, ripped off its hinges from when Zidane had burst in.

Scarlett and I exchange looks, and I give her a small nod. If we want people to follow the plan, we need them to know who Scarlett really is.

“I’m Scarlett Malone, first-born daughter of Zidane. I want to help this pack, but I need your help to do that,” Scarlett explains quietly.

But neither Scarlett nor I am prepared for Candice’s reaction.

All colour disappears from her face as her hand clamps over her mouth, her eyes wide in shock, tears brimming in them.

“Z-Zidane’s d-daughter?” she whispers so quietly, as if fearing if she were to speak too loudly that something might go wrong.

“Yeah, and although I’m ashamed to be his blood, I am nothing like him,” Scarlett promises.

“Scarlett… Scarlett… Oh Goddess.” Candice steps forward, suddenly pulling Scarlett into a surprisingly strong hug, making the younger woman stumble forward. A move that shocks both Scarlett and me.

“You are his daughter,” Candice murmurs.

I pick up on a surge of aura that affirms she is no omega.

I Will Be a God

Scarlett

She releases me, stepping back to look at my face properly, smiling as she cups my face.

Does she know me? Why is she so emotional? Her eyes still glisten with tears.

“You look nothing like him, just that eye colour, if anything. I would never have made the connection.”

I smile faintly, even if she is wrong about that. “I think I do, but thanks?” I reply.

“No. You do not. There is not an ounce of ugliness on your face. In those eyes there is life, love and feelings, things he lacks completely. I will not believe it,” Candice whispers.

I appreciate that at least; I’ve always hated that I looked like him. Hated that I see him in the mirror every single day of my life.

“Goddess, you – you shouldn’t be here. It isn’t safe. Why would you even suddenly show up and risk your life?” Her smile fades as reality seems to settle in. “Why are you both here? You should leave, he is plotting something. There is no way he would simply allow you to just walk around. He is watching you. He is playing a game far more twisted than either of you cancomprehend. Please return home.”

“This is also my pack. I can’t just turn a blind eye to everything that’s happening here and just go back home. I have to do something for the people here.”

Candice looks at Elijah. “Did you bring help? You are in grave danger. Don’t you understand the Malone bloodline is far stronger than anything you could possibly imagine? Even if you are strong, he is stronger. Please, I beg of you, go back. Why did you even return?”

“Your concern is valid, but there was little to no option and Scarlett wanted to handle this herself.” Elijah glances at me, a small frown on his face.

“And it was Zidane who found me first. He sent men after me and they ended up so close to where I live. I feared he knew the pack too. I didn’t want to put others in harm’s way. So, as he wanted, I came to him before he attacked our pack.

Candice looks at me, worried. “I understand, and that is valid, but I can assure you this is a mistake. You don’t just walk into a monster’s lair. I have no idea why he wants you now, but you best leave as soon as possible,” she whispers.

Elijah steps closer to me, grabbing hold of my hips which sends a delicious wave of pleasure through me as he presses himself against me.

“Have a little faith. He might be strong, but I might be stronger than you think.” Elijah’s words do little to comfort her.

“We will leave. I promise we will be ok. But I want to know something. If we were to plan a takeover, how many of this pack would side with me against him?” I ask softly.

The older woman’s eyes widen, her face paling as she clenches her fists.
