Donovan lets go of me. “You know what, I think it might actually be worth a night in jail.”
Campbell’s eyes widen, and he starts moving back. Max steps into his way, and crosses his thick arms across his chest. “I’ve been wanting to hit you for a really long fucking time. Give me a reason.”
I catch Max’s eye and he nods. He’s telling me he’s got my back, but there’s wariness and anger there too.
“Let me see it,” Donovan orders, and holds his hand out for my phone.
I need him on my side, and I don’t see how this will help, but I do as he asks. I hold my breath the entire time he watches the humiliating video. When it’s done he points at Katrina. “You filmed this without his consent?”
Her eyes widen with fear. “Of course not,” she lies. “He just doesn’t want anyone to know, but Scott has a freaky side.”
Donovan looks back down at the phone. “I don’t know. He looks pretty fucking drunk in this video.”
“Uhm, yeah. It was a party. Everyone was drunk,” she tries to brush it off.
“And when was this taken?” he pushes.
She looks at Campbell. “Uhm, last night?”
Donovan narrows his eyes. “Is that a question? You should know the answer, not me.”
I can see the determination cross her face. “Last night. We were all partying at the hotel. Like I said everyone was drunk, and I went to find Scott. We, uh, had some fun. He was depressed because they lost the game, and I wanted to cheer him up.”
Max scoffs. “What time would you say that was?” He opens the video again. “Never mind, there’s an alarm clock right here that says twelve AM.”
Joaquin looks at his own phone, and I hate that everyone is seeing me like that. Maybe the rest of the guys would feel proud, but I feel dirty and violated. “Kinda weird how everything in the video looks like Scott’s room back at the house, isn’t it?”
The other guys all take a second look, and turn accusing eyes on Campbell and Katrina.
“You know what else is weird,” Max directs to Joaquin, “how is it possible he was with Katrina last night when the three of us were at the hospital until three in the morning?”
“It was closer to four by the time you guys got back,” Taylor adds.
“The clock in the room was broken?” she asks.
“Then what time was this video taken?” Max presses.
She licks her lips. “A-after he got back from the hospital.”
“You mean when he was doped up on painkillers?” Joaquin asks.
Katrina shrugs. “I thought he was drunk. I guess he could have been high on painkillers.”
Donovan shakes his head. “I don’t believe you.”
She smirks. “It really doesn’t matter if you do or you don’t.” She looks around. “I don’t see his girlfriend standing around now, do you?”
“So you think you can share a video of one of the apparently two times you assaulted Scott, and you’re going to get a second chance with him? You’re dumber and more desperate than I thought you were if you believe that,” Taylor says to her.
“And now you need to find a different place to hang out. You’re not welcome back at our house,” Max states. “You either Campbell.”
Kent reaches out and grabs Campbell’s phone and tosses it to me. “You’re the computer whiz. Delete that shit.”
I go in and delete it from his phone and find it on his cloud. A quick look at his email and I see he sent it to his home computer. I delete the email, and do a factory reset of his phone just to fuck with him.
“He sent it to his computer,” I tell them.
Marco comes over to me and puts his hand on my shoulder. “I know we’re not close, but this isn’t okay with me. I’ll grab his computer and bring it to you so you can do your magic.”
