"And what about in case of cheating?" she asked.

My fists clenched. "Is this about Graham? You aren't planning on seeing anyone else are you?"

She rolled her eyes again. "I haven't been with anyone in two years. And for the record, I would never take him back. I'm not talking about me."

"Shit, Jana. Is that what you think of me? I can keep my dick in my pants. Not that I'm going to need to because I will have a beautiful young wife I plan on fucking frequently."

She squirmed in place. She might try and deny it, but she wanted me as badly as I wanted her.

"If it makes you feel better," I continued, "I'm sure Caroline has already included a provision for what you'd get if I were to stray. She likes to mess with me almost as much as you do."

Jana looked up at me. There was an innocence in her gaze that I wasn't sure was due to her youth, or if it was just something about her. "When are we doing this?"

"Does today work for you? I don't want you sleeping in here another night."

"You do know that we don't have to get married to have sex, right?"

"Call me old fashioned, but I like the idea of us waiting until we're married." My heart thumped harder with the image of sliding a ring on her finger. Taking Jana to bed was a fantasy I'd replayed nightly since the first time we argued, but somehow the idea was even more appealing taking her as my wife.

"Maybe you're just old," she muttered.

"Go get ready," I said, ignoring her dig. "Caroline wants to meet us in an hour."

I expected her to throw a fit about the lack of time to get ready the way Waverly would, but she didn't even bat an eye.

"I'll be ready in a half an hour. Will that give us enough time to get there?" she asked without pause.

Unable to resist, I gave her a quick peck on the lips. "It should be enough. I'm going to go to our room and change myself. I'll meet you in the living room in thirty minutes."

"Just sign on the line." Caroline slid a pen toward me.

We'd gone over the details of the prenuptial agreement. It was fairly standard. The only thing odd about it was how it was designed to keep me married to Colter, rather than protecting either of us should we divorce.

I wasn't worried about it though. She included a clause that said if we mutually decided to split before a year was up we'd each keep the assets we entered the marriage with. Of the two of us, I was sure Colter would want to end this. Until then I had to guard my heart.

"Are you both sure about this?" she asked, her gaze fixed on Colter.

My head turned to Colter. I was missing something, but I wasn't sure what was going on.

He reached out and squeezed my hand, and I could feel my pulse start to race. My mouth went dry, and my eyes bounced back and forth between the two of them.

Colt's eyes met mine. "Last chance to back out," he said. Honestly, it sounded like I was doing him a favor instead of the other way around.

I swallowed. "Now?"

He looked suddenly nervous. "The judge is ready for us. I know this isn't romantic, but I promise we can do a big wedding whenever you want."

Without thinking I was shaking my head. "I've never dreamed of my wedding. I don't need a big party."

He gave me a sad smile. "You deserve one. You should have so much more than I'm giving you right now."

"That didn't come out right. I've dreamed of a family. A real one. The wedding wasn't really a big part of the fantasy. Only everything that came after," I admitted. It was probably the most truthful thing I'd ever said to him.

This was weird. Usually we were trading teasing barbs. Yes, flirting, but this genuine, emotional interaction wasn't us.
