We separate and I begin to leave a trail of gas into every room in the house. Lucien and Javier start to come up the stairs just as my jug empties and the other soldiers are coming down the stairs.
For some reason I'm not ready to let Javier and Lucien in on my plan just yet, so I grab both jugs and carelessly toss them into an open room. On our way out the door I tear off a strip of curtains and start tying it around a couple of arrowheads.
"What are you doing?" Lucien asks. I think he has an idea by the way he's fighting the urge to smile.
"This monstrosity has haunted us enough, don't you think?" I ask him.
His eyes sparkle, and he takes out his phone and powers it on. "Whatever you're planning, I don't want Sin to miss it."
My heart sinks a bit that he's not with us, but I remind myself we're fighting to get him back. Also, I want Damien to know I'm coming for him, and Chaos is following behind me.
"Javier, is everyone out?" I ask.
He takes a second and double checks that all the soldiers are present with us. "Yes, everyone is loading into the vehicles. What are you doing?”
I forget he wasn't around when Damien sent soldiers after us the first time at Ford's gym. If he was, he might have been expecting what I am about to do, like my brother is.
Taking one of the fabric coated arrows, I light the tip and nock it in my bow. Aiming through one of the upper windows, I send it flying. I don't wait to see if the fire spreads before repeating the process several times.
A loud boom rips through the silence of the night, and the stone monstrosity shudders and explodes into flames. One of the soldiers who was with me smiles. "I might have blown out the pilot light in the furnace and stove and turned the gas on."
I reach out my fist for him to bump. "Genius."
"That's one way to send a message to Damien," Javier mutters.
Lucien shakes his bag, reminding us what we really came here for. "Believe me, what I've got in here will be just as explosive."
