"As for the shares in Anderson Global, my son will get forty-nine percent of the shares. The remaining forty-one percent are going to Colter Greyson. If you know what's good for you, you'll pass your ten percent on to your daughter," my father suggested.

"And if I don't?" Maxwell asked.

My father smiled. "I haven't undertaken a hostile takeover in a very long time, but I'm up to the task. I bet after you let an imbecile plan the launch of your company's most important product your board members might be inclined to sell their shares. I wager it wouldn't even be hard."

"If I sign over those shares, you'll leave me and my company alone?" he asked.

"Like you don't exist," Jana said.

Maxwell looked at her and his mouth hung open. Jana grabbed the paperwork and pen I had sitting in front of me. She pushed both over to her father.

He grabbed the pen and looked at Jana. She turned her back on him. Maxwell signed the papers and stood up. "So I save my company and lose my daughter?"

Evie lifted her chin and held Jana's hand. "I'd say you lost her the moment you showed her how replaceable you thought she was. At least you've still got Chad."

Maxwell walked out without another word.

After another thirty minutes everyone left except for Evie, Jana, Colter, and I. "I can't believe there won't be a board to appease or investors to answer to any longer. The company belongs completely in the family again."

"I'm not family," Jana muttered.

I looked between her and my best friend. Their arguing had been increasing and the tension between them could be cut with a knife. I wouldn't be surprised if our unconventional family got a little more unorthodox in the future.

"You will always be my family. You were there beside me when I had no one, and I'll be next to you now. Besides, someone has to keep my father on his toes. I'm going to be a bit busy," Evie said, rubbing her belly.

"I will be working very closely with him," she answered.

"You'll be working under me. We could get started now if you want," Colter teased.

Evie gagged. "Gross, I'm working with her you know."

I grabbed her and spun her around. "No, you'll be working directly under the boss. He's very demanding and requires a lot of flexibility. Are you flexible, Evie?"

"I guess we've come full circle then?" she asked.

"Mmm hmm," I hummed in assent. "I'm still going to demand all of your time. It's a good thing you married me, because you won't have much of a life outside of me."

"There isn't a life I'm interested in apart from you," she murmured.

"I can't watch them when they're like this," Colter commented. "C'mon, Jana, let's go get a drink and discuss your position."

"Whatever you say, daddy," she quipped as they left the room.

"That is a good idea. I think we should discuss your position," I whispered.

"Which position is that?" she asked confused.

I looked around the room and wagered that the office was likely empty. "I think we should start with you on your back on this table."

She laughed. "I can see marriage hasn't changed you." Evie started to back away from me.

"I will chase after you. Always," I warned.

She took off through the office, and I followed through. Her laugh rang through the office. Catching her was part of the thrill.

I found her and lifted her in my arms. "You're mine."
