Page 78 of Clueless Romeo

"Seriously impatient," he agrees.

Anything else we might have said is interrupted by clapping as all eyes turn toward us.

It's Caleb who speaks first. "Will there be rainbow balloons and glitter at your wedding?"

I scowl. I hadn't realized anyone had witnessed Roman proposing. "Shut up, dick."

My brother smirks before tackling me in a tight hug, proof he's not always a jackass. "Christa is going to kill me if you two get married before we do, you know that, right?"

I'm honestly surprised they haven't already tied the knot.

Roman comes up behind me and settles his hands on my shoulders when Caleb releases me. "Then you better hurry up. I don't expect a long engagement. I need to get him to the altar before he realizes his mistake."

My parents laugh as they take turns hugging and congratulating us. Even my dad appears pleased, shaking Roman's hand. "Welcome to the family."

Roman thanks him, and everything feels perfectly right.

I'd gone so long with a part of me unexplored and uncertain. Roman had filled the missing pieces. At that moment, I knew my life would be filled with the love of a man who makes me feel whole.

I glance over at Roman, eager to get him to myself. We might have to go to the reception, but I can't wait. There's time for a little foreplay. "Ready?"

His lips form a crooked smile, gaze full of dirty promises I hope no one notices. "Ready when you are, babe."

Caleb whoops. "I bet you are, Cupid. Ready to get thedi—" He's cut off, and I glance at my twin, who is currently frowning at Christa who's glaring at him. "Oh, come on, baby. We all know what they are really talking about."

As my brother and Christa bicker, Roman and I tell my parents we'll see them at the coffee shop and then walk toward my Jeep in the parking lot.

"I meant it," he says as he slides into the passenger seat, and I crank the engine. "About the short engagement."

I look at my future husband. "You don't have to convince me."

"Tomorrow work?" He laughs, and I give him a wide grin.

I'd marry the man now if we could. "As soon as possible."

He appears satisfied with the answer, and I chuckle as I back out of the parking space.

"Roman?" I ask when we get on the main road.

"Yeah?" He winds his fingers through mine on the console.

"Thank you," I say simply. For everything, I tack on silently.

For loving me. For being mine.

He must understand because he lifts my hand, placing a kiss on the back. "Thank you. Forever is going to be amazing." He pauses. "Dammit."

"What?" I ask as I pull up to a stoplight and flip on my blinker to turn.

"I owe Jaz coffee in the morning."

I glance at him and arch a brow. "What bet did you lose?"

He sighs. "I had plans to ask you to marry me next weekend. I made reservations and everything. She didn't think I'd wait that long. She's going to gloat all week."

"You made a bet over me?" I ask. "Seriously, Ro?"

He smiles sheepishly. "I never said I was perfect. But it's too late now. You already said yes."
