"We have to get some work in soon," she says. "There are souls ready for us to reap."

"Let's just stay here for now. They can wait a little bit longer. I want to watch the sunset with my girl."

She reaches up to stroke the side of my face with her hand. "I love you, Kellan. I will always love you. Death is my life. You are my life."

Hearing her confess this makes me even more grateful for her—this one previously human soul who changed the course of everything for both of us. My equal.

"My beautiful girl," I say, admiring her. "My love for you is endless, the kind of love that doesn't exist in time and space. It’s a love that has no beginning and no end. It just is—now and forever."

"It's you and me to the end, isn't it?" she asks me, her eyes glinting with joy.

"You and me for eternity, pet."

I lean down and kiss the tip of her nose, holding her close as the sun sets on the horizon. Everything is how it was always meant to be: me and the girl who was always destined for me in my arms and bringing light to my darkness. I couldn't ask for a better way to spend every day until the end of time.
