David wondered about her comment concerning her husband. “What does her husband do?”

“Nate’s a member of Durango, the Delta team Brent recruited. He’s their EOD expert and, oddly enough, a professional chef.”

“That’s handy.”

“Tell me about it. His team never has to worry about edible food. Nate has the skills to make almost anything taste good.”

He grunted. “My team could have used that skill more than once on deployment.”

“Yep. My team ate more MREs than I care to remember. Do you want to wait while I call Zane or start on your own work?”

He felt a strong urge to keep an eye on Emma and probably would for a long time to come. Didn’t matter that this cabin contained other SEALs capable of protecting Emma. She was his to care for and protect.

And, yeah, he’d missed her so much when she was in WITSEC that he almost went through withdrawals when he was separated from her now. No use kidding himself. He was head-over-heels in love with Emma Tucker and craved spending time with her.

David also needed to start on the paperwork involved in the shooting incident with Paul Franks. He might as well satisfy his desire to have Emma within sight and take care of the necessary paperwork at the same time. “You explain what we need. Before he sets up the search parameters for the unsolved murders, ask him to locate Justin Wells. I want to talk to him, preferably face to face.”

A nod.

Retrieving his laptop from his duffel bag, David returned to the kitchen. After pouring himself a cup of coffee, he settled in a seat beside Emma.

He logged in and began the long process of filling out reports on the shooting incident. David worked steadily for several minutes as Jon and Emma consulted on their project. When he finished his first report, Wolf Pack’s leader walked into the room.

David paused, hands hovering above the keyboard. “Well?”

“Got it. Zane sent the information to your email along with a link to track his movements as long as he stays with his phone.”

He studied Eli’s expression. “That’s good news. So, what’s wrong?”

“Wells never left Morgan County.”

David sat back. “Where is he?”

“At the Archer B & B.”

Emma gasped. “That’s Gigi’s place.”

David’s blood ran cold. The B & B was only fifteen minutes from this cabin. Had Wells tracked them to this location?

Jon paused in his work. “Field trip?”

“Depends,” Eli said. “Can you set the computer search to run automatically?”

His partner just stared at him.

A slow smile curved Eli’s mouth. “Hey, I had to ask. We need that information as fast as possible. Will Emma be able to access what she needs to group cases?”

“You’re ticking me off,” Jon muttered, glaring at his friend.

That earned him a good-natured chuckle from Wolf Pack’s leader.

“Wells is a federal agent,” David reminded them. “I don’t know what techniques you use for interrogation, Jon, but he still has the power to arrest you.”

“Let me worry about that. Give me a minute to show Emma what she needs to do, then we’ll have a chat with Wells.”

Within minutes, David climbed into the passenger seat of the Fortress SUV. He checked his email for information from Zane on Agent Wells as he gave Jon directions to the B & B. “I should call the police chief of Archer and let her know I’m paying a visit to Wells.”

“Why?”
