“Ani, we would love to show you our animals, but it’s close quarters in here. Why don’t you get dressed, and we will go outside,” Mayne inserted as he stood up slowly, wound completely healed.
The fucker had a way with words where Brody was all Alpha tendencies. As in, he usually went with his gut and responded decisively to physical stimuli. The fact their mate was standing ten feet away from them with nothing but a sheet on was making his dick hard and his heart pound.
He wanted her. No doubt about it. He also wanted to hunt and kill every motherfucker in his Pack who saw her like that. She was his, dammit!
Ours.Mayne’s voice whispered inside his mind’s eye.
Fine. Ours.
Grrr.
Mayne’s voice in his head was a common occurrence since he’d met the orphaned Bear when they were just kids. By the time they were in high school, Brody had established a bond with him. Platonic though it was, the man was closer than any Wolf in his Pack.
That caused some feelings among Pack mates, and fuck, Brody didn’t do the whole feelings thing. That was Mayne’s job. An Omega, regardless of species, was a rare and precious gift. Not only did Mayne’s unique position enable him to brush off the Alpha voice Brody used with subordinates, but he helped him be a better man, a better Alpha, and hopefully, a better mate. If only Ani would give him a chance.
Them a chance.
Give us a chance.
Please.
Grrr.
Fuck.
He was already begging, and she wasn’t even in his life for more than a day. His Alpha Wolf snarled at the stray thought. Their mate was a thing of pure beauty, boldness, and bravery. Look at how she stood before them, crazy claims, gun wielding maniac, and all. She wasn’t running, crying, or throwing things at them.
In fact, she was downright angry. Her demand that they change right there in front of her despite the fact the room would cause both animals to be in close proximity of her was brave and foolish, and so fucking hot. She was a real spitfire. But beneath that, he saw a beautiful, sweet, smart as fuck, tender woman he could spend the rest of his life loving.
Fuck.
Not love.
Too soon.
But even as he tried to backtrack the word, once said he could not get it out of his brain. Brody knew it was the truth. He loved his sweet Ani already. Call it instinct, destiny, or whatever. The why or how did not matter one bit to him or his Alpha Wolf.
Mine.
Ours.
She is ours.
Our third.
Love.
Love.
LOVE.
“Brody?” Mayne’s question was in his voice, and Brody nodded without bothering to turn his head.
If their little minx wanted to see their animals, they were going to oblige her. His eyes bore into her sky blue ones as he tore his shirt off his body. His skin hummed with magic, and he felt the rise of the Bear in his Omega.
“Do not be afraid,” he instructed Ani.
The slight nod she gave while holding her ground sent waves of pride pulsating through him. She was a true miracle in his eyes. One he was going to fight to keep.
