Chapter 9
“So, let me get this straight—” Sage stood up, pacing the length of the suite’s one common room.
“Are you okay, honey?” Ginger asked.
Was she okay?
No.
Like, not hardly.
And she didn’t expect she would ever be okay again. Shifters were real. Magic was real. There was a whole underground world existing right alongside the human world. And she’d just been sucked into it.
Speaking of being sucked, last night she’d been licked, kissed, sucked, and fucked to within an inch of her life. Those two men, her two men, if Ginger was to be believed, had loved on her until she couldn’t do anything but pass out from sheer exhaustion.
And they were hers.
Like, forever.
Okay, so maybe things weren’t all that bad, she reasoned and tugged on the hem of her clean shirt. After learning about this whole fucked up mess, she’d showered and dressed. One thing working in corporate America taught her was to always arrive dressed for battle. Her off white, linen blend capri pants were wide in the legs, but molded to her waist and ass. They were her favorite summer pants, giving the illusion she was thinner than actuality, while still highlighting her curvy figure. She wore the navy blue tank top she’d rejected the night before, aware that the slightly lower neckline did its best to show off her impressive cleavage without being obscene.
Since both her mates grinned appreciatively when she’d entered the room, she assumed she looked even better than she thought.
Her mates.
A shudder wracked her entire frame. Certainty that the two brutally handsome men were indeed her mates echoed through her being.
“Let me recap. So, you guys oversee all the Triads in the world. You’re Heads—”
“Of the Triad Council.”
“Yes, and this island is your home base?”
“Correct.”
“And this weekend was your first attempt at using Witches, who are also real, to reach out and scope the world for possible Triad thirds among the human female population?”
“Yes.” Landry smiled. “That is the most perfectly succinct explanation I’ve ever heard.”
“But how could this have happened without us knowing?” She gestured between herself and Ginger.
Her middle sister looked ridiculously happy sitting between her own two mates. A big Kodiak Bear Shifter named Mikhail and an Elk Shifter named Ross. They were attractive and seemed already halfway in love with the redhead, despite the fact she was told love was not necessary to make a mating. Callan had told her that. Of course, her heart had nearly squeezed itself to death when he did.
Shit.
She didn’t want to admit that she was hoping for a confession of undying love. But she supposed that was childish. Besides, she could examine that later.
“Sage, honey, look,” her sister began. “I don’t really know or care, I just know I want this. I want them.” Ginger looked at both males sandwiching her on the sofa. “We belong together. If Callan and Landry are your mates, then you do too.”
“Ginger?” Sage sniffed as her eyes filled with tears. “This isn’t about what I want. We are mated already, right?” Her men nodded, confirming what she already knew.
“Yessssss,” Callan hissed, and she recognized the Dragon in his glowing silver eyes.
She licked her lips, breaking eye contact.
Damn.
The man was just too potent for words. Not that he cowed her or anything. More like she wanted to jump him when he got all growly and glowy like that. Landry growled at the Alpha, and she winced when Callan responded with an even louder snarl.
