“He’s right. You are the only one for us, mo ghradh.”

Tears pricked her eyes, but she couldn’t find the strength to wipe them away. These men, her men, swept her off her feet once more. She tugged Callan’s arm more firmly around her with her right hand, and with her left, she reached for Landry.

Strength and affection poured over her through their matebond, and she knew they’d meant every single word they said. Just as she knew she was already half in love with the two of them.

“I guess it really is fated then, because I love you too,” she whispered.

The three of them dozed off for a good while then. It was dark outside the next time Sage woke up. The moon was shining down on them from the skylight, looking more blue than white. A knock on the bedroom door sent both her mates to leaping up without a stitch of clothing on.

Landry Shifted first, and Callan was already in his half-Dragon form complete with horns, a tail, wings, and claws. The rolling snarls echoed in the room before the intruder spoke.

“Alpha? Omega? It’s Keeton,” the Mountain Lion’s voice was clear but respectful, as always. “I have news of the Witch.”

“Hold on a bloody second,” Callan grumbled.

Still maintaining his half-Shift, he looked at Landry once. Communicating telepathically and leaving her out, which made her a tad grumpy. She figured out what he’d said the second the White Liger leapt on the bed positioning himself in front of Sage. She waited silently while Callan opened the door.

“What is it then?”

A few hastily whispered words were exchanged, followed by a fierce snarl. The sudden increase in tension in the entire house told Sage she would not like what the Guard had just told her mate. Landry’s Liger hissed, the beast had obviously heard and understood. She reached out, stroking his thick, soft fur. The need to soothe him was like a biological imperative, she mused. But more than that, touching him seemed to calm her as well.

“Well? What is it?”

“Remember how the Witch’s spell hit her and she broke through the window?”

“Of course, I remember that. You sent the Guard to retrieve her body,” Sage said.

“That’s the thing, love. There is no body.”
