“No,” Sage responded. “What’s impossible is the fact that no one here has found a mate among the women your Coven has invited. The only women on this entire island that seem fated to be with any of the male pairs are me and my sisters.”

“No wonder my inbox is full of complaints from angry Alphas and Omegas,” snarled the Dragon.

“No. This can’t be. I should’ve used blood magic first.”

“What?”

“Stupid males! They just had to try harder to connect with my Witches! Now, how did you even get here?” The Witch wasn’t even listening to him.

Her eyes remained transfixed on Sage. But his mate did not cower. In fact, she stood up and rounded the table with Landry at her side.

“That isn’t the question. The real question is who are you and who do you work for?” Sage put the tablet on the table and crossed her arms.

“I don’t have to explain a thing to you,” spat the Witch.

“Actually, I am afraid you do have to explain to me,” Callan insisted, and held up the legally and magically binding document the two parties had signed when this business arrangement was made.

“You see, I contracted the Coven Realta to find women who were possible mates of Alpha Omega pairs—”

“Yes, you did, but like most men you were so sure of your dominance and ability to cower others, you didn’t check who I was when I arrived, did you?” Ms. White spat angrily. “It was easy enough to step in and take over for those pansy-assed Witches from Northern. All I had to do was leave a message disguising my voice as yours to tell them you were canceling your order!”

“I see,” he said and inched closer.

“Shifters are more animal than human, always thinking with your dicks. Well, we decided it was high time we cash in on your strength and magic. Animals don’t deserve magic. It should be ours!” She slammed her hands on the table.

“So, what was your plan? To keep them unmated?” Sage questioned.

“You filthy human! Too stupid to understand, aren’t you? Let me put it in small words for you,” the Witch hissed. “We were going to breed their magic out of them. To mate them to Witches. All we needed was a bond—”

“What? You were going to force matings?” Landry snarled.

The idea was so despicable, both his Silver Dragon and the White Liger raged at the Witch’s evil plan. It was unthinkable. She was going to cheat these pairs of their mates and magic.

All for the sake of greed.

Unacceptable, snarled his beast.

“Well,” she huffed out a breath. “I guess it doesn’t matter now. Part of that contract you signed says you can’t hurt me, so I will just be on my way with my sister Witches—”

“Actually,” Sage said and stepped closer to the Witch, which had her mates anxiously trying to pull her back. “The contract in question was with the Coven Realta. See, right there, they are listed as the second party. You are not of the Coven Realta, and you’re therefore, not protected by this.” His mate smirked.

“You bitch,” snarled the Witch, and with a wave of her hand Sage went flying backwards into the wall.

“That was a mistake,” Callan snarled. He hated the idea of hitting a woman, but this Witch had injured Sage.

“Wait.” His mate grunted, and lifted herself up off the floor. “I got this.”

“Sage?” Landry asked from his battle ready position.

“I was doing more than studying spreadsheets.” Sage winked at him.

Suddenly, he felt a tug from deep inside of him. Faster than words can describe, the scene unfolded. Ashley White, the enemy Witch, was mumbling incantations from dark spells, trying to force the house down on their heads. But Sage was doing something as well. Callan grunted, fighting it at first, but then Landry laughed and shook his head.

“Give it to her, Callan. It’s Sage!” he explained over the onslaught of magic that was crackling in the air like miniature lightning bolts.

Again, he felt a tug on his beast, but this time he opened himself up to it. Landry was right. It was Sage, he thought in wonder. Eyes glued to his ferocious mate, he watched as she changed from human to hybrid.

Somehow, their clever little human mate had found a way to unlock their potential as mates, as a Triad. She was more than he could ever dream, he thought in wonder as he felt her pull and gave in to it freely. One glance told him she was doing the same to Landry. The Liger’s eyes glowed, and he trembled from head to toe.
