Prologue
Gerri Wilder picked up the box of addressed invitations and ran her hand over the silver embossed envelopes before stopping on a seemingly random one. Her long, painted fingernail tapped the pretty paper as she trailed over the rest of them, just to come back to that particular one. Shivers tickled her spine and a small smile played at the corner of her mouth as she pulled it out.
Oh yes, she thought to herself and the she-Wolf inside of her growled approvingly, this one was special.
Gerri looked at the name and address and a bark of laughter escaped her red lips. This was going to be wonderful!
“Oh, Javi, it has been too long,” she said to no one in particular, “I have a feeling this is going to be the most memorable Christmas of your life, osito.”
She’d been calling Javier Auberon osito or ‘little Bear’ in Spanish ever since he was a cub. It was an old joke, one he’d probably outgrown, but so what? She could still spank him if he got growly about it.
Seriously though, he was one of her favorite nephews. The younger son of one of Gerri’s oldest and dearest friends, she’d watched him grow up and now, it seemed, she would watch him find his mate.
Gerri was a sucker for happy holiday endings, or beginnings as it were, and this was no different. The handsome devil had written her earlier that month to inform her of his coming to the area over the holidays.
It seemed her little osito was moving to the states for good. So, naturally, she’d made sure to include him on the invitation list for her holiday party. Of course, her special little insight hadn’t kicked in until just then, but now she understood. This year little Javi was going to get a present he would never forget.
Gerri hummed Christmas Carols as she walked down to her car and handed her driver the box of invitations to be mailed.
“Good morning, Hank,” she said and smiled at the handsome Shifter whose car services she often used whenever she traveled to Maverick Point to visit a certain Tiger Pride.
Her plans had been to drop off a gift for the Neta’s six-month old twin daughters, Milly and Celia, but she had another mission now. A very special mission to deliver an invitation to a very special person.
Gerri hummed in anticipation as Hank turned onto the highway that would lead to the Maverick Point and then to the Pride House. She was practically vibrating with glee at the thought of delivering a happy ever after to one of her favorite people.
Pamela Brown had a tough beginning, that was true, but with any luck, this year would end with a bang!
Another peal of laughter escaped her lips and she noted Hank’s quirked brows as he glanced in the rearview mirror.
“Everything alright, Mrs. Wilder?”
“Oh, Hank, I really think it will be,” she said and glanced out the window, “I believe everything is going to be purrfect this Christmas!”
