“I had fun. It was nice to get from behind my desk for once.”
“Good. I’m glad you came to hang out with us.” Nate turned the car off. “But I changed my mind.”
Kevin frowned. “About what?”
“About whether or not it mattered if this was a date.”
“Oh, it’s cool. I understand, we were just having fun. I don’t expect us to hang out all the time-.”
Nate cut him off. “Kevin.”
“Yeah?”
“Shut up.”
Kevin’s eyes widened and Nate laughed. He leaned forward to brush a thumb over his cheek. “You have got to stop being so damn cute.”
“Okay?”
Nate laughed again before he leaned in further and pressed their lips together. Nate’s lips were warm and firm against his. He sucked lightly at Kevin’s bottom lip until he opened up and let him in. Just like before, he took control of the kiss, with Kevin easily following his lead. Kevin’s eyes drifted closed. They kissed long and slow, the quiet hum of the SUV’s engine a backdrop to the soft sounds of lips meeting, rushed breaths, and hands sliding over the fabric of clothes. He loved the way Nate sucked at his lip so slowly before licking into his mouth. By the time they pulled apart, he was hard, and their bodies were on the edge of the bucket seats trying to get as close as possible. Nate pressed their foreheads together.
“Thiswasa date Kevin. And I want there to be more. Is that all right with you?”
Even though they’d just indulged in a short but hot make-out session, Kevin was still surprised that Nate wanted to date him. “Are you sure you want to date me? I’m not very exciting and I know you’ve got a lot more experience than I do.” Kevin cringed. He knew what he’d just said was probably a complete turn off. But his self-doubt had pushed the words out of his mouth before he could stop them.
Nate’s eyebrows drew together in a frown. “You don’t give yourself enough credit. Andyes, I’m sure. So I’ll ask you again. Are more dates all right with you?”
How had he managed to get the attention of this unfairly handsome and genuinely nice guy? He decided that it didn’t matter. As attracted as he was to Nate, there was no way he’d say no to seeing him further. “Yeah, it’s all right with me.”
Nate smiled, looking completely at ease, like everything was right in his world. He pulled all the way back to his side of the SUV, giving one of Kevin’s dreads a tug as he did. “Good.”
Chapter Eight
The sun was shining, but there was a good early fall breeze going, cooling the air. Kevin sat outside Nate’s gym. He was on his scooter, ready to ride home after his workout. Nate was there too, holding on to the handle bar of the Yamaha, like he wasn’t ready for Kevin to leave yet. At least, that’s what Kevin thought. He didn’t care if it was true or not, it made him feel good to think so.
“What do you want to do for our first official date?”
