“How could I not,” I teased, watching his gaze darkened, filling with lust.
“Get a grip on yourself.”A female voice filled my mind, similar to mine but different at its core.
Before I could respond, she was gone again. Curling back into the darkness.
Isaac cupped my face, watching me intently as the blue storm showed itself. “That was your wolf, wasn’t it?”
Excitement bubbled from him, and it made me forget about everything that was going down.
“Maybe.” My smile widened, eager to get to know her. Her strength was changing me; I could feel every fiber of my being changing.
His gaze narrowed, and Logan growled playfully. “We are going to have so much fun, little bird.”
“Can’t wait,” I murmured, leaning closer.
Chapter twenty-eight
Fight
Isaac
Loganwaseagertoplay, almost ignoring the task at hand as Joanne led the way. Just like we thought, the guards were too busy to notice us while we sneaked around. Heading toward the throne room.
The place looked the same as the memories that were shown and when the doors that shielded us from the throne room were in sight, I pulled Joanne behind me.
Not a word was spoken between us as I took over the lead. We were unsure what to expect, but the two guards at the doors had to be taken out first.
Lifting my hand, I let icy smoke spill from my fingers, crawling toward the two guards. It circled them and carefully moved up their legs over their clothes, ensuring they wouldn’t feel what was about to happen.
Simultaneously, the ice layered around their throats, and they struggled against it, allowing me to creep closer and make their kill swiftly and quietly.
I held on to their bodies, laying them silently on the ground and signaled for Joanne to come.
I knew she wanted to be the one to kill William, but I wasn’t going to stain her soul with more deaths than necessary. At least not today.
Joanne stayed in hiding as I opened the doors in one sweep and stepped inside. The murmurs and whispers immediately stopped, and my eyes fell on William.
Derek, Conner, and Finlay stood beside him, a map in front of them and multiple small wolf figurines placed on top.
Guards stormed my way, and I widened my arms, covering the floor with ice and claiming those who dared to step any closer.
My chest vibrated as laughter spilled from my lips, and I watched as Conner’s lips tugged into a smile. My Beta till the end.
“It’s not me you should fear.” My gaze shifted between William and Derek, watching them closely as my amusement rose because of their confusion.
“Where is my sister!” Derek roared, eager to move closer, and I glanced back. Joanne’s footsteps echoed off the marble floor as she stalked closer.
A red hue whirled her irises, her wolf ready to come out and play.
William edged back, and she shook her head. “You don’t deserve to live after all you have done.”
“Joanne, what are you doing?” Derek asked, trying to step in between.
“I’m punishing the one that killed our parents, played you like a puppet master, and tried to kill Isaac over and over again!”
The scent of blood wafted my way, and I peeked down, noticing the blood drip from her fingertips. Claws trying to form.
Derek shook his head, not wanting to believe her words, but his stance changed when a dark chuckle arose from William.
