Probably more than five.

Dozens.

Millions.

He was going to break the spell tonight. He would take me just to show me how worthless I was to him.

And my job was simple: I had to make sure he knew I didn’t care one bit.

Even if the stupid hormonal Omega bitch who had her nails deep in my heart kinda did. A lot.

I usually didn’t hate her, but Knox made exceptions.

Hmm.

I guess that was the answer to my question, though.

We’re gonna show him we don’t care tonight.

“Good point, Bunny,” I said, popping off the cap to the black eyeliner and flicking the red lipstick right off the counter top.

THIRTEEN

KNOX

Thistle arrived at my office at five on the dot, just like I’d told her to.

I looked up from my work and did a double take.

I’d already seen what she was wearing—I’dchosenit—yet I was still caught off guard by how much my instincts kicked into high gear as I saw her in something marking her as mine.

It was a black lace dress, simple but beautiful on her, with thin straps holding it up. She’d chosen to opt out of a bra, it seemed, by the soft peak of her nipples through the fabric, but her chest wasn’t full enough to reveal too much with the plunging neckline. It was made of a soft fabric with a snug fit down to her waist, loosening to gentle pleats at the bottom where it reached her thighs.

I’d given her a number of shoes to choose from, and she’d picked a pair of knee-high boots with tops fitted enough they looked like stockings.

Her other choices were just as captivating, and her violet eyes held mine defiantly as I examined her. Her makeup was simple, if not the usual choice of the elite I usually spent time with. Instead of rouge lipstick, bold contouring, and brows, she had messy, thick mascara, a smudge of black liner beneath her eyes, and only a touch of pink blush on her cheeks and nose. Her raven hair was up in two buns, each loose and a little lopsided, and a few strands were free to frame her face.

The collar and thin chain still hung around her neck, and it suited the look even more.

“You got so pretty for me,” I said, beckoning her toward me.

Her lips pursed, as if she wasn’t sure what to make of that as she crossed my office.

“For that, I will give you a chance to win Rogue his freedom,” I told her, tugging open a side drawer of my desk and plucking a small key from it.

Her eyes went wide, and I had to catch her before she sank down onto her knees right there.

“Later.” I grinned, tapping the key on her nose before putting it into my pocket.

For a moment, she looked upset, but she shook it off, her expression turning impressively neutral, even as I pulled her down onto my lap.

“I have a few more things to sort out before we’re ready to go.”

First was the collar.

She’d come to me with that, but I wanted her in mine.

I opened the black box on my desk and withdrew a golden metal collar, slim and more comfortable. It had a thin chain which was extended right now. I undid the one on her neck, and she shivered as I ran my thumb along her skin. I loved how she reacted to me when she so desperately didn’t want to.
