The plane ride was filled with conversation about where Zariah lived on the mountain and what type of job I could possibly get. We agreed to take things one step at a time, and I had plenty of savings to rely on for now.

“All I’ve ever really known is security, but I’d be willing to learn another skill.”

Zariah tapped her chin as she racked her brain. “You know what? I heard a new security guard company was opening, and it was run by Zach Kahan, a local who just returned home from the military. Maybe he could help. Let me see who I can talk to. For now, focus on settling in and maybe a little bit on me?” she teased and batted her eyelashes.

“Always on you.”

We kissed as the plane took off, and a few hours later, when it landed in Vermont, we kissed again.

“To our new life together.” I kissed the top of her head and inhaled her familiar scent I’ve seared to my brain.

“I love you, my cruise boy.”

“And I love you, my curvy cruise woman. Forever and ever.”

EPILOGUE

Zariah

Six months later

My city boywas officially a mountain man.

Pierce fell in love with Appleridge the moment he stepped foot in my little mountain town. And who could blame him? Besides needing a break from time to time, Appleridge was the perfect place to live out your life, and I couldn’t be more pleased Pierce agreed.

He loved my little home near the top of the mountain, secluded in the woods without a neighbor in sight. And when I brought him to the diner, he was happily accepted as a new resident of our small town.

With Camille, the woman who runs the diner, and Zach now being together, it was easy to set up a meeting between Zach and Pierce.

When Pierce lived in Boston, he was a security guard for a large company, so Zach had no problem hiring him.

A few weeks after settling in, we took a weeklong trip to Boston. We packed up his apartment and made arrangements for his stuff to be delivered to Appleridge. Pierce led me on a tour of the city, and we visited all of his favorite spots to eat, to hang out, and we couldn’t leave without going on a duck boat tour.

His parents were slowly starting to come around to the idea of us, but his sisters were all in. One day, we met up with the three of them to have dinner, and the laughter was endless. I’d always wondered what growing up with siblings would’ve been like, and now getting to experience Pierce’s three sisters, that missing piece of my childhood finally felt like it was found.

A part of me kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Everything seemed so perfect…and we all know life loved to throw punches. But instead of anticipating the bad, I focused on the good. The good might not last, so why not enjoy it while I could?

I heard the front door open as I pulled my freshly baked apple pie from the oven. Yes, I’ve become somewhat domestic. Shh, don’t tell anyone.

“Damn, Z, it smells fucking scrumptious in here.” Pierce came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. He rested his chin on my shoulder and nuzzled my neck. “Mmm, I missed you.”

I giggled. He never failed to make me giddy. “I missed you too, babe. How was your day?”

“Better now that I’m here with you. How about we let that pie cool while we heat things up?” His hands ran over my waist and hips.

If I told anyone the amount of sex we’ve had, I doubt they’d believe me, but it was true. My young stallion never got enough, and I was here for it. Who wouldn’t want multiple orgasms a day?

I turned to face him and wrapped my arms around his neck. I brought my lips to his and kissed him deeply, all of my love poured into my kiss.

It didn’t take long before our clothes went flying and our hands and mouths began exploring each other.

Pierce lifted me onto the kitchen table and paused for a moment as he drank in my naked form. “I swear you become more beautiful every day. I’m going to make you my wife one day.”

My mouth dropped open.

We hadn’t discussed marriage, but I knew deep down he would be my husband. There was no one else for me. I was sure of it.

“What are you waiting for?” I bit my lip in the playful way he loved so much.
