But seeing Mac sit behind his desk, looking all dominant and hot made her get all warm and fuzzy inside but also turned on. She definitely knew if she had mentioned something to him about her fantasies, that he would make it come true.
“Pinky?” He said. “What are you thinking?”
“How life is so messed up,” she said. “Nothing has been going my way or any way that is beneficial for me and Eleanor.”
“Life is going to get better. This is just a little bump along the way. If you look at it from a bigger picture, it's going to be okay. Everything is going to be okay.”
She sighed once again. There he went again saying that everything was going to be okay. How did he know that everything was going to be okay? He couldn't see into the future. She couldn't either and it was worrying her.
“I want you to try and not worry about it,” Mac said. “I'm going to make sure that everything is okay.”
She nodded her head and looked back at her computer. She needed to get back to editing before the day slipped away. Janie had already wasted time thinking about everything.
Time passed and before she knew it, there's a knock on the door before Leo and Michael walked into Mac’s office. She had forgotten that they were coming over to talk about something with Mac. She had no clue what it was and she probably wouldn't understand it if he explained it to her.
“How are you and Ellie?” Michael asked. “Did she get over her sickness?”
Janie nodded her head. “She's all better now. Playing and having a great time.”
“And how are you doing?”
She shrugged her shoulders. “Okay.”
Michael turned towards Mac. “Is she eating, sleeping, and getting enough fluids in the day? Is she taking a nap?”
She huffed out of breath and crossed her arms. They didn't need to talk about her right in front of her. She had answered his questions that she was doing okay. What else was she supposed to say? That she was stressed beyond belief because she had gotten kicked out of her house?
“We're still working on getting enough fluids in but she has been eating better and taking a nap. I've been making sure that she eats enough and gets a nap when she looks tired,” Mac replied.
“I'm right here,” Janie said.
“And you weren't truthful when you answered me,” Michael replied. “You need to get more fluids in. We don't want you to get dehydrated.”
She rolled her eyes and looked back at her computer.
“I don't know if we've officially met,” Leo said. “I'm Leo and Hedda is mine and Oliver’s Middle.”
“Nice to meet you,” she whispered.
She had known who he was, but they had never really talked much. She had never been interested in him or his brother. Janie had seen them around the club and she had gotten to know Hedda better since she was an official member of the club and coming to events.
“I'm going to go back to work,” she said.
She went back to editing while the guys talked. She was almost done with a really long chapter. Her phone started to blow up with text messages a couple minutes later. Janie's wholebody flinched and went rigid as they kept coming in. She knew who it was, Donald. But she didn't want to read them anymore.
Janie went back to editing the book. The book was about a werewolf and his mate. How the werewolf was protecting a farm from any harm coming its way and found his mate, who worked there. It was a sweet story about hardship and them falling in love with each other.
Her phone went off again and she sighed. She wanted so badly to put it on silent, but she couldn't. Her authors texted her and she needed to be available. Her sister also texted her and she didn't want to miss anything.
“Do you need to leave the room to take that?” Mac asked.
She looked up and all three of their eyes were on her. She gave them a shaky smile and shook her head.
“No, I don't need to take it,” she whispered, trying to keep her voice from shaking. Janie had no clue if she did it enough since she looked away from them. Their gazes were too intense and she knew if she continued to look at them, she was going to crack.
“Are you sure?” Mac asked. “Because you can step right outside if you need to. I'll watch over Eleanor.”
She shook her head and gave him a tight smile. “I don't need to take it. It's just text messages.”
