"So precious," Leo whispered.
Oliver started working on her other arm. She knew he could work a lot faster, but he wasn't. It was almost like he was trying to take his time so she had time to calm down. Or so they could figure something out.
She didn't know what it was, but she was starting to grow impatient. She wanted to get out of this and away from them so she could think.
Hedda knew they needed to have time to think on their own at some point. Why couldn't they give her that time to do it herself?
Because you haven't told them you wanted to think. Her subconscious told her.
She closed her eyes. She didn't like her subconscious when it was right. Hedda hadn't told Oliver or Leo what she wanted. She just told them she wanted to be out of the ropes.
Had she even told them she wanted to be away from them?
Hedda didn't know what she told them and what shehadn't told them. Everything was starting to blur together and it was making her frustrated.
She just wanted to have some peace for once. No nightmares. No feeling overwhelmed. Nothing.
But it didn't seem like she could get away from it.
There was always something going on or her feeling some sort of way that wasn't peaceful. Hedda didn't know if she had ever felt peace before.
That was a lie. She had and it was before she killed Richard and was on the phone with Oliver and Leo. Even though they were in a different state, they had made her feel comfortable and safe to be herself.
Something she craved right now.
She wanted to be herself. The good, bad, and ugly. But it was different now since she had killed someone. There was more bad and ugly and she didn't think they would want that.
She didn't want it.
"You're okay," Oliver whispered.
Hedda was anything but okay. She was losing a battle she had been trying to fight since they got her here. Every second she was ever so slowly losing the battle and there was nothing she could do about it.
"We're here for you," Leo said. "You can lean on us when you want to."
She shook her head. She couldn't lean on them because it would mean she was weak.
As if he knew what she was thinking, he started to speak. "You aren't weak and just because you lean on us doesn'tmean you are weak. I've leaned on other people when life was getting hard."
Hedda couldn't believe that he would do that. He was such an Alpha male and she didn't think they leaned on anyone. Her brother didn't.
Maybe he was just saying that so she would lean on them. If that was what he was trying to do, it wasn't working.
"You can tell us what happened and what your nightmares are about," Leo gently said. "We won't judge you for it."
"Fuck you," she weakly said. "Just fucking go away."
She didn't want to deal with this right now. Hedda leaned up against the wall as both of them stood up from the ground. Were they finally leaving?
Relief filled her but also dread. Why was she feeling dread? Shouldn't she feel happy they were leaving so she could finally have the peace and quiet she was wanting?
She closed her eyes as she felt the tears start to form. This was not the time to have conflicting feelings. This was just the beginning of her losing battle and it was showing more and more.
"It's okay," Oliver said. "We'll leave you alone for a couple of minutes, but we'll be right outside your door."
Hedda didn't respond to them or even look at them. Part of her wanted to tell them that they didn't need to leave but she kept her mouth shut.
Theydidn'tneed to know that she was struggling with her emotions and what to do. They didn't need to know she was losing a battle.
