"It's nice to finally meet you," Mac replied. "How are you getting along with them?"

She gave him a confused look. Did he think she wasn't getting along with them?

"Okay," Hedda replied. "Sometimes they can be hardasses."

"Language," Daddy growled and landed a swat on her bottom.

"But I love both of them," she said. "They mean the world to me."

"That doesn't make up for your cursing," Papa said. "Sweet words will only get you so far."

She rolled her eyes.

"Janie," Mac said. "You look a bit tired. How about we get you home."

Hedda looked at Janie and could see the bags under her eyes.

"I've got to pick up my daughter," Janie whispered. "I drove here."

"I'm driving you," Mac said before turning to them. "Sorry that we have to cut this short, but I need to get Janie to bed."

"No, you don't," Janie hissed.

Hedda's eyebrows went up. Shit. Janie did not like that.

"We'll catch up later," Papa said.

Janie and Mac walked away and Hedda leaned her head on Papa's arm. Exhaustion was weighing her down.

"You okay, Sweets?" papa asked.

"Can we go home?" She gently said.

"Let's go home," Daddy said.

CHAPTER FORTY-NINE

HEDDA

Worry filled Hedda as she sat on the couch. She hadn't heard anything from her brother since they left New York.

It shouldn't bother her this much, but it did. It felt different and she had a feeling inside of her that something wasn't right.

He had been acting weird before they left but she hadn't had time to ask him. He was always on the phone and went to his other house a couple of times.

Rogan never went to the other house unless there was an emergency.

Something was definitely up with him.

"What's wrong?" Papa asked as he sat down next to her.

She knew no matter what, he was going to continue to ask until she talked to him. They did respect her boundaries and sometimes when she didn't want to talk about things, they would let it slide. For that moment.

"I'm worried," She whispered.

"About?" Papa asked.

She didn't know where to start. Would Papa understand about her being worried about Rogan?
