Rogan sighed and put his gun down.

"Do you love her?" Rogan asked.

Leo nodded his head. "Yes, we fucking do."

"Of course," Oliver said. "She's the reason I wake up in the morning."

Rogan looked back and forth between them. He seemed to really be thinking about something and Leo wanted to know what.

"Fuck," Rogan muttered. "I don't fucking like this one bit. I don't fucking like this at all."

"She was happy with us," Leo said. "She was getting better and thriving. She was starting to enjoy life. Going out of the house was still a struggle, but we were working on it."

"You had no fucking right to take her away from us," Oliver said. "She's a fucking adult who can make her own decisions."

"Fuck, I know," Rogan said.

But Leo didn't think he really knew. If he did know, then why did he do that?

"She's a consenting adult. If she wanted to leave, she would have told you. We would have let her go," Leo said.

"She told you on the phone she was fine with us," Leo said. "She was fine, and she told you several times. Andshe was!"

Rogan glared at him before he sighed.

"I know," he whispered. "I thought I was doing what was best for her at the moment. But maybe it was the best for me."

Maybe he really did understand what he did.

"I didn't want her in Missouri," Rogan said. "I wouldn't be able to keep an eye on her. Make sure she is safe."

He didn't know how safe Hedda was with them. They wouldn't let anything happen to her. And yet they had when they went to Heavenly Baked. She had gotten taken from them.

Something that would never happen again.

Leo and Oliver had talked while they were waiting for information from people. She was never going to leave their sights again. They were going to make sure she was safe at all times.

Would that mean they would make sure the bathroom at places were cleared before? Hell yes. That was a price to pay for her safety. They definitely wanted her safe, from now on.

"We were keeping her safe," Oliver said. "She was safe."

Rogan shook his head. "I didn't see it with my own two eyes."

"But you had guys following us and keeping tabs?" Leo asked.

He scoffed. "Of course, I fucking did."

Leo knew he did. It wouldn't make sense if he didn't. But how did he not know that she was thriving? Did his men not report back to him? Or had they and he just didn't want to accept that she was happy in Missouri?

There was a lot to work on and Leo hoped they could. He hoped things could be civil and they could get Hedda back.

That was all Oliver and Leo wanted.

"And you didn't see that she was happy?" Leo asked. "What did your men report back to you?"

Rogan glared at them. Leo knew he didn't like the questions they were asking.

"Her whereabouts," Rogan said. "I told them the first opportunity they could get her back here safely to do it. And they did."
