Daddy’s words rung in her head. He had called Rogan an asshole and right now he was being an asshole.

Hedda shook her head against the ground. “You don’t,” her voice sounded broken. “I love Oliver and Leo.”

Rogan’s face went blank, and she knew she had just made him even more mad than before.

“You fucking shouldn’t. You aren’t going to see them again,” Rogan spat out. “I’m going to find you a good fucking husband to marry.”

Hedda’s eyes went wide and she sat up. He wouldn’t dare. She was not going to have an arranged marriage to someone she didn’t know.

“I don’t want that,” she said. “You can’t fucking do that! I’m thirty-eight years old. I can make my own fucking decisions!”

“Exactly! You’re fucking thirty-eight years old, and you don’t have a husband! It’s about time and I have a couple people in mind. People who will take care of you so that I won’t have to worry about you,” he said.

Tears welled up in her eyes. Did he really think that? He had never had a problem with her not being married before. Before he seemed happy she wasn’t.

“He’ll keep you in your fucking place,” Rogan sneered. “Make you strong.”

The tears ran down her face. She shook her head. She needed to find a way out of here before he married her off. He was dead serious and she didn’t want any part of this.

“See! Fucking weak! Stop crying!” he yelled. “They made you weak but don’t worry, I’ll make you strong again. Your future husband will appreciate what I’ve done.”

Hedda sprung up from her sitting position and ran towards him. Anger coursed through her body with every word he said. She didn’t know why he was being so nasty to her.

Rogan stood there as she started to hit his chest.

“Just fucking let me go back to them!” she screamed. “You won’t have to worry about me anymore!”

“No fucking way,” he said. “They aren’t good for you. I’m only doing what’s best for you. You may hate me right now, but in a couple months, or years, you’ll see what I see.”

She shook her head and punched him again. Before she knew it, he grabbed her hands and bent down.

“I’ll have the food delivered to you,” he said.

Rogan pushed her towards the bed and quickly slipped out of the room. Anger coursed through her, and she ran towards the door. Hedda hit the door with her palm several times.

“Let me go!” she screamed. “I don’t belong here!”

She was met with silence, and she couldn’t help but break down. Why was this happening to her? Was this karma for all the bad things she had done in her life?

Hedda dragged herself over towards the bed and sat down. Crying, she wrapped her arms around herself. She was trying to be strong for Papa and Daddy, but it was so hard.

Rogan had completely taken away everything and she was drowning. There were no arms out to catch her when she fell.

Hedda knew Papa and Daddy would want her to be brave and think things through. But she had never been good at that. Nothing like this had really happened to her before.

The only time was when Papa and Daddy had taken her to their house, her home. That was the only other time and they had stayed with her through everything. They made her feel comfortable and safe.

But this time, she didn’t feel any of that. She felt alone, scared, and uncomfortable. She didn’t feel like she belonged here, because she didn’t anymore. Maybe before she had started to talk to Papa and Daddy, but things had changed.

Sooo many things had changed and her heart, soul, and mind weren’t in New York anymore. They were in Missouri with the men she loved.

Hedda continued to cry as she laid down on the bed. How was she going to get out of this?
