She rolled her eyes at that. Yeah right. There was no way ten seconds of courage could help her with this. Hedda didn’tthink they understood where she was coming from or what she had done.

It was different from theirs. They did it for the country and she didn’t. It was completely different.

“We’ll drop it for now,” Oliver said. “How about we go eat something before we go to bed.”

Hedda didn’t want to do either one of those things. She had just woken up from sleep and she didn’t think she would be able to go back to sleep.

Oliver took a step into the closet and held out his hand. She stared at it, not knowing if she should take it or not.

“It’s okay,” Oliver said. “Let’s go get some food.”

Her stomach grumbled once again and she lightly put her hand in his. Maybe she could eat something small. This had been the third time it grumbled since she woke up. Oliver and Leo weren’t going to drop the subject of eating until she did.

“Good girl,” Oliver said as he helped her up.

Her cheeks turned red, and she kept her head down as they walked out of the closet. She couldn’t help the fact that her body reacted to the words they said to her. Her body wanted them, but she was trying hard not to.

“Does chicken noodle soup with some chicken in it sound good?” Leo asked.

She shrugged her shoulders because she knew that was what she was going to have. The past several days Leo has asked her if something sounded good because that was what they were having. Hedda hadn’t actually said she didn’t like it, so she didn’t know what he would do.

Oliver led her towards the kitchen island where shenormally sat. He let go of her hand and pulled out a chair for her to sit in. Every single time she went to eat, one of them would pull out a chair for her.

It was sweet. It made her feel all gooey inside, but she didn’t show it. She didn’t want them to know they were getting to her. That they were making her feel more attached to them.

“Here’s a nice warm bowl,” Leo said as he placed it in front of her. “Eat as much as you can.”

She looked at the bowl of broth and chicken with very little noodles. They were going easy on her stomach. She appreciated the gesture.

Hedda slowly started to eat. The twins were looking at her as she ate and she didn’t like it. Did they not have anything else to do?

She looked back down at her bowl and took several more bites. Her stomach was starting to fill up with each bite she took. It seemed nearly impossible for her to finish the whole bowl.

“Are you done?” Leo asked.

She nodded her head and pushed the bowl away from her. She had eaten about half of it.

“If you get hungry, let me know. I’ll make something else for you. And if you’re craving something, please let me know,” Leo said.

She nodded her head, but she knew she wasn’t going to do that. Leo had told her to tell him things several times and she hadn't. Why did he think it was going to change this time? It wasn't.

Hedda looked up and saw Leo already looking at her, watching her.

"You're not going to tell me, are you?" he asked.

She looked down at her lap. She had been caught red handed with that one. How was she supposed to reply to that? Yes, she wouldn't tell him or lie and say she would?

"Don't you dare think about lying," Oliver said. "I can see that brain working, trying to come up with a lie."

Her cheeks turned red. They had gotten a lot better at reading her.

"Let's go brush our teeth and get into bed," Leo said before she could respond to him.

All of them knew she wasn't going to tell Leo if she was hungry or not. She hadn't asked for one thing since she got here.

Oliver grabbed her hand and led her up the stairs and into her bathroom. Before he could grab her toothbrush, she snatched it up, put toothpaste on it, and started to brush her teeth. He had brushed her teeth one time and she didn't enjoy it.

She wasn't a Little who needed everything done for her. She was an independent Middle who occasionally wanted things done for her.
