She didn't want to see the disappointment all over their faces. She had only been there two days and they were already starting to crack the wall she had built up.
"That's okay," Leo softly said. "Just be a good girl for us and stay safe in the house. I have some snackies on the kitchen counter and you can eat any food that is in the fridge."
Part of her loved that he called them snackies instead of snacks. Hedda knew she was a Middle, but whenever she was about to have a breakdown, she always felt younger than aMiddle. She hadn't told the twins about that because she was worried about what they would think.
Would they be okay with it? Would they tell her they only wanted a Middle and nothing else?
Those two questions really weighed on her mind as she kept the secret. What if they weren't okay with it and only wanted a Middle? Hedda knew the twins were it for her but these thoughts were holding her back.
Well, that was before the incident. Now she was trying her hardest to stay away from them and come up with a plan to get away. She had watched them several times, putting the code in and scanning their thumb print. But the finger scanner always trumped her. She wasn't in the system.
This would be the first time she would be left alone in the house. They had been following her around everywhere the past two days.
"If you need anything, call us," Oliver said as he took a step forward and handed her a phone. "You're only able to call the police, Michael, Finn, or us. If you do call the police and beg for them to come get you, they won't."
She figured that was going to happen and she had accepted that they weren't going to help her. Not that she liked the police anyways. They were always corrupt and she didn't trust them, no matter how good they said they were.
Hedda grabbed the phone and placed it on the nightstand in the room. She didn't figure she was going to need it, not when they had babyproofed the whole house and no one could get into the house either.
Leo had made sure that anything sharp was locked away so she couldn't get it. He was worried she was going to hurtherself, but she didn't have that kind of death wish. She wasn't suicidal.
She was mad that they thought she was. Yes, she had destroyed the room when she first got here, and still wanted to because it was perfect, but she didn't want to end her life like that.
"We love you," Leo said as he kissed her forehead.
Hedda tried to get away, but he was quick and so was Oliver.
"You secretly love it," Leo grinned.
She shook her head and glared at them. She didn't want them to know that she did like it. Any affection was great but she didn't deserve it.
"If you need us, call us," Oliver said.
She stared at them, waiting for them to leave but they stood in the room.
"Do you understand?" Oliver asked.
"Yes," she softly said.
"Yes what?"
"Yes, sir."
She knew that wasn't what he wanted to hear, but she couldn't bring herself to call him Daddy or call Leo Papa. She was trying so hard to not get attached to them again, but she was failing miserably.
Oliver gave her a pointed look. "You know that wasn't what I wanted to hear. But that's okay. I'll wait however long it takes."
Hedda scowled at him.
"Come on or we're going to be late," Leo said. "We're in the wedding."
"We'll see you later," Oliver said. "Be a good girl."
She watched as both of them left the room and heard the front door open and close. She was completely alone in the house.
Hedda grabbed her horse stuffie, Lila, before walking down the stairs. She didn't know what to do while they were gone. Should she go explore or should she watch tv or color? There were too many options and while she loved the freedom, she also didn't.
Oliver and Leo had been keeping a close eye on her since they took her from Michael's house. There wasn't a moment that she was alone, unless she was taking a nap or sleeping at night. And even then, both of them always came running in when she had a nightmare.
