She never was going to be ready to go in, but she neededto at some point. It was going to start soon. And she didn't want to be late.
"We'll slip in the back," Papa said. "People will notice but maybe not everyone at once."
She nodded her head, and they led her into the room. She clutched onto her Papa and Daddy's hands as they walked towards the back.
Shit.
All eyes were on them as they walked around the edge of the room. All eyes were on her.
"You're okay," she whispered to herself.
"You're doing amazing," Daddy said.
They stood in the back, Hedda between them. The only reason she was going to be able to get through this was because of them. They were grounding her with their hands holding onto hers.
The whole room fell silent and a couple, who she assumed was Sofia and Jaxson, were standing up front.
"Thank you everyone for coming," Jaxson said. "We really appreciate it. Sofia has some exciting news to tell you."
Hedda watched as Sofia looked up at Jaxson and he gave her a nod of encouragement.
"After months of applying and waiting, I'm excited to tell you that I got my Green Card!" A smile spread across Sofia's face.
Everyone erupted into cheers and people started to congratulate them.
Hedda hadn't known that Sofia wasn't from America. Papa and Daddy hadn't told her, but her slight accent gave it away.
"Ready to meet people?" Papa asked.
Before she could answer, a girl with pink hair walked towards her.
"Hi!" she excitedly said. "I'm Echo!"
Hedda stared at her, not knowing what to do. This Echo girl was so excited.
"Sweets," Papa said.
She looked up at him and he gave her an encouraging smile. Hedda looked back at Echo and gave her a smile.
"Hi, I'm Hedda," she whispered.
"I know!" Echo yelled. "I've been looking forward to meeting you for a while!"
It seemed like so many people had as well. Almost everyone was looking at her. Besides the happy couple and a man near the doorway, looking straight at Echo.
Was that her Daddy? His gaze didn't waver from Echo's body the whole time. Maybe it was her Daddy.
"We should have a playdate soon! I know you aren't a Little, but that doesn't matter. We can watch movies or shows, paint out fingernails, and just talk," Echo said.
Hedda's gaze went back to Echo's. That actually sounded great.
"Sure, I would love that," Hedda replied.
"Great! I'll get in contact with your Daddies and figure out a good day!"
Before Hedda could say anything, Echo walked away but not in the direction of her Daddy.
"I thought you guys normally talked to the other Daddies and Mommies when it came to setting things up," She said as she looked up at Papa and Daddy.
