She looked over at Finn and gave him a smile. “Everything’s fine! We were talking about cupcakes and other baked goods!”

Finn chuckled. “Do you want a snack or anything to drink?”

Charlotte thought about it a second. She wanted a drink, but she didn’t want to leave Janie here by herself. They had become friends, and she didn’t want her to be alone.

“I’ve got to go. I’m needed at home,” Janie softly said.

Charlotte let out a little whine but hugged Janie.

“We need to get together!” Charlotte said. “Come by the bakery!”

“I will!” Janie said before she started to walk away.

Mac followed after her, and it was just the unknown man, Finn, and Charlotte.

“Charlie, can you answer my question?” Finn asked.

“Both?” She looked up at him.

Both of the men chuckled, and Finn helped Charlotte off the ground. All three of them walked to the bar, Finn helping Charlotte up on one of the seats.

“I would like you to meet my friend and other owner of the club, Jaxson,” Finn said.

Charlotte got shy and looked down at her hands. She didn’t really enjoy meeting new people.

“Charlie,” Finn warned her. “It’s not nice to ignore people.”

Charlotte looked up and made eye contact with Jaxson.

“Hi,” she whispered.

“Hello, little one. It’s so nice to meet you. Finn has told me so much about you,” Jaxson said.

“Dadddyyy,” Charlotte whined. “No talking about me.”

What if Daddy had said something bad about her? Would Jaxson think less about her?

“Charlie, we don’t whine. I didn’t say anything bad about you, so hush,” Finn said as he placed some crackers and a juice box in front of Charlotte.

Charlotte loved that she could call Finn her Daddy right now. It felt so right and comforting. He would take care of her tonight, and she didn’t have to worry about it.

“Eat and drink up,” Finn said. “Jaxson and I have known each other since we were little kids. If you need anything and can’t get a hold of me, ask for him.”

She nodded her head and happily sipped on her juice. She didn’t really understand why Daddy was telling her this, but she stored it away in her brain for later. Nothing would ever happen to her or him.

“Do you understand?” Finn asked. “Charlie, I need you to look at me and tell me you understand.”

Charlotte let out a sigh, placed her juice box on the table, and turned toward him.

“Yes, Daddy. I understand,” Charlotte murmured.

Jaxson chuckled to himself. “You’ve got your hands full with this little.”

“I do, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Charlotte finished up her crackers and juice. She happily started to swing her legs back and forth and looked around the room.

“Do you want to go jump in the bouncy house?” Finn asked.
