And I was about to crash.

I was sure I moaned his name, the sound escaped my lips unbidden. I felt him growl between my legs, the sexiest thing that ever happened to me. I was dizzy, weak, delirious as the climax uncoiled in my stomach, my hands closed in a fist, grabbing water.

He opened me with his fingers, giving himself room, and in the back of my mind I remembered I should be a little shy and still, I wasn’t. I was glad when his tongue swirled unobstructed, when he sucked just a little, and my eyes rolled to the back of my head.

His thumb played with my entrance, not really penetrating, but messing with my head. And I shook, clamping my legs on his face, I felt the scratch of his beard, and he pried my legs open once again, steadying my body.

My breathing came out choppy. I was a raft floating away and the waves of my orgasm wouldn’t let me still.

When Daniel talked, his voice vibrated inside me, a command for me to let it go. And I obeyed without question.

Shock, I whimpered too loudly, weak and I floated away as I rode the biggest orgasm of my life. I dove, then rose my body upright, above the water, brushing my wet hair from my face. I was on the other side of the hot springs when I opened my eyes.

Daniel looked feral, his hair wet and plastered over his forehead, his hazel eyes wild.

We watched each other from afar, my mouth dry, his curving in a smirk. He croaked a finger at me. “Come here, Cricket. I’m not done with you yet.”

Hallie Delos Santos was a lot of things, but not dumb. So, I went to him.

Life was good.

No, life was great. We were leaving Camp Nightfall, I was feeling happy and confident. And if I closed my eyes? I could still taste Hallie in my tongue and hear the delicious sounds she made back in the hot springs. Those four days changed everything.

“You changed, Delos Santos.”

The accusation rang in my ear, cutting through my peace. In a minute I was outside with a clipboard in hands and talking to the kids, and in the next, I was jumping inside the bus growling at Ryan.

He stretched comfortably in the driver’s seat, a lazy smile so perfect I could imagine the handful he was as a teenager. As I stepped inside, Hallie’s hand found my chest holding me in place.

I shook with anger.

His comment wasn’t innocent, I could tell by the way he said her name, the slime quality of his tone of voice.

“Hey, Mr. M., is everything ready?” He blinked at me, unbothered.

I vibrated under Hallie’s palm. I wanted to break free, to break Ryan’s bones. I was done with patience, done with being the good guy.

But if I thought Hallie was going to accept Ryan’s sudden change of subject, I was wrong. My girl tipped her chin up and with a challenge asked; “What do you mean by that, Ryan?”

His eyes flickered to her, surprised she talked back. In a flash he recovered, his mouth opening in a smile once again.

“All grown up.” He rolled his shoulders back. “Look at you.”

Hallie’s eyes narrowed. A beat passed and none of us moved, but then she nodded. “Well, you haven’t changed at all.”

She removed her hand from my chest, but I wasn’t holding myself back anymore. Hallie was ready to be heard, proving once more she could handle herself.

It was the hottest thing I’d ever seen.

I moved away from Ryan and helped the kids with their luggage. Counted their heads twice, consumed by an irrational fear of forgetting someone at Camp Nightfall. Our hosts said their goodbyes, and soon we were on our way back to Bluehaven.

“Told you,” I taunted as the parents came to collect their kids and Hallie and I waited by the bus.

“What have you told me?”

“Hey, Mr. M! Be careful with my wings!” Carmen shouted, nodding toward the bag I was holding.

My lips twitched. “I’m being extra careful,” I said to the student and turned to Hallie. “I said it was going to be ok. The kids love you.”
