Maddie shrugged. “It’s different from the way I talk to Aisha. Well, I guess isn’t a secret if she knows… let me think of something else.”
But I’m not interested in winning anymore. “No, no. How come you tell Aisha more things than you tell me?”
Maddie laughed. “Hardly. But Aisha loves detail. I can’t see a guy without her asking about girth.”
My grimace came out instantly. Maybe I didn’t want to know anything. If the part of Maddie’s life that I was missing was about men’s dicks, I was glad to be left out. She chuckled when her eyes rose to look at my face.
“It was an example of the way things are with Aisha. It’s good to have a girlfriend, though. I’ve never had one.”
It’s true, Aisha was her first girlfriend, and it never occurred to me she needed that. “I’m sorry. You could have talked about…” I swallowed, “girth with me if that’s what you wanted.”
Maddie laughed freely. “Yes, that disgusted face you’re making is the open door I need.”
I schooled my expression. “Ok, yes, maybe not that specific. But I never thought you were missing out on things because you were my friend.” And only mine, I refrained from adding. Not because we were so closed up, we had other friends at school. But when you are as close as Maddie and I were, it’s hard to let people in. It wasn’t their fault, it wasn’t ours. We were just tight knit.
Maddie turned a little more to my side, propping an elbow to hold herself up. “I didn’t miss out on anything. Did you?”
I shook my head. “Guys are not like that. I had the team to keep me company when I wanted to do something and you weren’t in the mood, but I’d say I gained a lot from being friends with a girl. I had someone to talk to.”
She wrinkled her nose. “Yeah, the whole thing about boys not talking has to stop.”
“Although, some of them would be interested in talking details just as bad as Aisha. It was just never my type of… talk.”
Kiss don’t tell, it was my style. Locker room talk always sounded ridiculous. Who would waste their time talking shit instead of doing it? Why would you be a pig and piss off some girl, just to save yourself from a couple of months of sex? Yeah, no thanks. I could smell desperation on the fuckers who liked to talk.
Maddie nodded. “We talked about feelings, though. You always listened to me when I had a crush.”
“Unfortunately.”
“Excuse me?”
My eyebrow soared from her lack of memory. “Daniel Grant? August Lawson? Mr. Fucking Hill?”
“Ok, ok, in my defense Mr. Hill was super-hot.”
I rolled my eyes. “He was Gabriel’s dad, Maddie. You have too much of a great family to start with daddy issues.”
She slapped me on the shoulder. “It wasn’t daddy issues! It was a young girl developing her sexuality and a very hot dad with nice forearms. It’s not like I did something about it, Z! I just… thought about it a lot.”
“God…” I groaned. “And in your fantasies, were you planning on being Gabriel Hill’s stepmother?”
She giggled. “There weren’t many people in my fantasies, Z. It was just about Mr. Hill.”
I waggled my finger at her. “Gross.”
She grabbed my finger, shaking it, but I said it again. “Gross, Magdalena.”
“Don’t full name me!” She gasped. “You know what? Aisha would understand my little crush. She’d ask to see pictures of the silver fox.”
“Silver fox,” I mumbled under my breath.
“So that’s what I was missing, I guess. Talking about the fluid thing that is a woman’s sexuality.”
She yelped when I tackled her. My hands flew to her waist, tickling and making her stop with her lecture to justify the two months she was infatuated with someone’s dad.
Maddie wiggled to escape, turning on her stomach, trying to raise herself up. Before she could bend her knees, I pinned her legs down with mine. One hand went to her waist, the tank she was wearing riding up from the struggle. I positioned my palm between the band of her shorts and the tank’s hem. My other arm bent by the elbow as I held myself up. I stopped Maddie’s movements and descended on her.
She felt perfect under me.. I smirked, and my mouth came to her ear. “I will listen if you want to talk about sex, Maddie.”
