“Mmhhmm. Get the hell out of my truck.” He tells me and then I hear him mutter under his breath, “Using mom and dad on me. What an ass.”
I chuckle to myself as I get out and walk over to the passenger side where Adriana just got out.
“What’s so funny?” Adriana asks me as I slide my arm around her shoulders.
“That I can still annoy my big brother all these years later.” I tell her.
“Boys.” She says.
“Do you need to grab anything from your place, babe?” I ask her.
“Depends. Can I steal a t-shirt to sleep in?” She asks.
“You just want another shirt of mine.” I chuckle. “But yes, of course you can. I enjoy seeing you in my clothes.”
“There you go again, Casanova. I just need to let Dani in to grab her stuff.” She says as she laughs.
“Oh shit, I forgot Dani was spending the night. I’m sorry. You can come stay over another night, babe.” I tell her, feeling like an asshole.
“I was told to have bubble time with you. Dani’s leaving early in the morning to head home. She has to catch a flight to Cali.” She informs me.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to be the needy boyfriend and take you away from your friends.”
“I’m sure she wouldn’t have it any other way.” Adriana says adamantly.
“If you are sure.”
“I am,” she says, leaving no room for discussion.
We head over to where Dani, Heather, and Ty are by the gate.
“Thank you for letting me have her tonight, Dani.” I say.
“It’s only because I see how happy you make her. And the bubble comment was a swoon moment.” Dani teases me.
“Come on, lady, let’s go grab my stuff.” Dani tells Adriana.
“Be right back,” Adriana says to us.
The two of them go up the stairs and into Adriana’s place. It sometimes seems weird to think of it as her place since it’s also located where my brother lives. I can’t deny that I like her being close even if I’m not with her.
“Bubble time, huh?” Heather says.
“What?” I ask slyly.
“Don’t be all what with me. You are so smitten and I’m loving this front-row seat I have,” she says.
“I know. I know. You’ve been waiting for this to happen. Seems fitting you brought her here, too.” I tell her.
Ty laughs, and Heather joins him.
“I’m happy for you. I wasn’t sure if I was going to have to wait until after you retired after that user, Layla.” Heathers states.
“I wasn’t sure either. I just knew I didn’t want to be with someone like her again.”
“A definitely isn’t anything like her.” Ty says.
“That means a lot coming from you. No offense Heather.” I say.
