“Ready to head out?” Asking Adriana while pointing to my truck.

She follows my hand to see where it’s pointing and nods. Grabbing her suitcase before placing my hand on her back to guide her over to my truck that’s idling since I was just picking her up.

“Do you want to put anything else in the bed of the truck?” I ask as I place her suitcase.

“Sure, my carry on can go back there too. Thank you, Cole.” She says as she hands over her carryon bag.

After the items are secured so they don’t shift around during the drive I walk her to the passenger side to make sure she can get in and close her door before climbing into the driver side.

“How was your flight?” asking Adriana as we pull away from the curb.

“It was great, slept for most of it. I didn’t realize how much I needed it until the flight attendant was waking me up since we were getting ready for landing.” She responded.

“Well, I’m glad you got some sleep then. Heather is sorry she couldn’t be here to get you. I hope I’m an okay replacement.”

“You aren’t so bad. I totally get it, shit happens. I’m just happy to be here honestly. I needed the change. Thank you for picking me up. I don’t think I said that yet.”

She’s rambling and it’s one of the cutest things. Normally women who ramble get on my nerves but Adriana just makes me smile and want to listen to her ramble. She seems to be just as nervous as me. Me being nervous about a woman is not the normal though. My brain is trying to figure out what is happening.

I don’t know what it is about her but I just like being around her.

CHAPTER SIX

Adriana

Jeez, my rambling just won’t stop. I can’t help it. Cole is just ugh, he’s gorgeous, sweet and lord, his voice! The timber alone is everything. Add that to his good looks and I’m a goner.

Adriana, you can not fall for your boss’s brother-in-law.Unless he’s single?

Dani encouraged the google search of Cole and his current girlfriend after a few celebratory drinks three weeks ago. I didn’t get a solid answer from the results.

“So, you’re a fan of the game, but are you a fan of the team or mine?” he questions, pulling me out of my head.

“And if I said both?”Ugh. I hope that didn’t sound as flirty as I think it did.

“Well then, I would say that we need to get you to a game and maybe in one of my jerseys.” He looks at me from the corner of his eyes as we wait for the light to turn green.

Cole smirks from the driver's side and I’m pretty sure it’s because he can see his affect on me. Knowing my cheeks must be red since the temperature in the truck's cab just got warmer.

“Maybe, but I don’t think your girlfriend would like that too much.” I point out, hoping he’ll confirm if they’re together ornot. “I know Heather and I are going to opening day. Do you live close to their new place, or are you closer to the stadium?”

“A little complicated at the moment. I actually live next door to the house that Heather and Ty moved into. But, I haven’t fully moved in yet. That will change in about two weeks, though.” He says, confusing me because what’s complicated about that?

My mouth opens to ask him to clarify, but my phone rings. Looking down at the screen to see Heather’s name.

“Hey Heather.” answering her call.

“Hey! Sorry, I couldn’t make it to grab you. This stupid furniture delivery got pushed back, and I had to be here to let them know where everything goes and sign.”

“It’s okay. I totally understand. Cole grabbed me, I mean he got me, shit, he picked me up from the airport and we are en route.” Fumbling over my words.

Heather lets out a laugh and from the corner of my eye, Cole has a slight grin on his face.

“Glad to hear it. That he picked you up, that is. I’ll see you when you get here.” continuing to laugh at me.

“Thanks for that. Bye.” telling her while shaking my head.

Once I get off the phone, it’s silent and the moment to ask him has passed.
