“I think you are fucking amazing,” I say, pulling her into me and kissing her hard. “I also think that we have to talk about the real issue here,” I added, breaking our kiss and the magical moment we had just shared.
Lacy continues to smile, even though I can see the heartbreak she must feel. This terrifies us all. “Drake, we have fought monsters like Josh before. This time is no different. We just need a plan and to work together. I’m not going anywhere. And this place will become our home one day.”
“Lacy, there’s something else you need to know. Josh and Chuck are cousins. This is some sick and twisted way for him to get revenge for what we did to his family,” I say.
“His family?!” Lacy screams, throwing her hands up in the air. “Chuck tried to destroy the bar. He was abusive to his own sister, and he wants revenge? This is absurd! How did we not know this?” she asks.
“I don’t know. Axel has been trying to wrap his brain around it, too. You are the only one, other than the guys who were with me, who knows what is truly happening. I can’t go to jail and lose you and I can’t let Josh threaten you either. I will protect you all,” I say, my voice louder and booming than I had expected.
“You aren’t going to get me to turn away now. We are in this as a team. Drake, you don’t have to handle the weight of the world alone. I get that you feel responsible for us all, but you have a family willing and able to stand with you, not behind you. Let us in,” she begs.
As much as I hate it, I know my stubborn and feisty girl won’t back down now. I don’t know how Axel, Storm, and Ryder handled this when they were faced with the wrath of Chuck’s family, but now that it’s my turn, I plan to make sure this is the last fucking time.
“You let me handle most of it, and I promise to keep you updated. That’s the best I can do right now. I have a plan, but until I am ready to share it, you need to just be patient with me while I talk with my brothers,” I argue back.
We have to compromise here. As conflicted as Lacy is, I know she sees this is the best for now. Nodding, Lacy grabs my hand and squeezes. “Fine, but I still want a big wrap-around porch,” she says.
And that right there is what I love about Lacy. She can go from a spit-fire little raging storm to a sweet and sassy woman in no time. I kiss her one last time and agree to give her anything she wants. Because if my plan works out, I plan on giving her the fucking world.
My desire for this unbelievable creature standing before me becomes too much. Before I know it, my lips come crashing down on hers and I am ready to make love to this woman right here, in the place that will one day be ours.
Chapter 17
Lacy
Sensing my desire, Drake slowly moved his hand to the bottom of my shirt and began to carefully and methodically lift the fabric so that he revealed my lower stomach. His hands began to roam over my sensitive skin and I watched him with a careful glance as he moved.
Heat swelled through my body as my need for Drake grew more intense. Leaning down, Drake began trailing kisses up my stomach as he continued to lift my shirt higher. When he freedmy breasts, he lifted my shirt over my head and moved his mouth to my now taut nipples. I couldn’t help the moan that escaped through my lips at his sudden touch.
My sounds and the way my body writhed underneath his touch made Drake more alert and needy. As his tongue licked and sucked on my breasts, his hands slipped under my shorts and removed my panties. I lifted my hips, allowing him the space he needed to crawl on top of me. He quickly pulled his jeans down and then before either of us could think, he was deep inside of me.
As he filled me completely, we began rocking to a tune of desire, hurt, and love. This moment wasn’t just about sex. This was about us becoming one again. We both needed this affirmation that we were a united front. That our love could withstand anything and anyone who tried to come between us--especially snakes like Josh.
“Lacy, you feel so good,” Drake moaned, as he continued to rock in and out of me. The grass below us served as a soft mattress and I could just imagine this being our bedroom one day. I didn’t care that we were outside, or that we didn't’ technically own this property yet. This felt like home and when Drake was inside of me-- no matter where we were-- I was home.
I opened my mouth to speak, but no sound emerged. I was too engrossed in his touch and the way his body felt as it connected with mine. The heat between us could have sparked a wildfire and as my climax grew, I could feel Drake reaching the brink of release too. We continued to move in synch with one another until we came together in a release of bliss.
Rolling off of me, Drake turned his head to face me. “Thank you for loving me enough to let me back in,” he said, as his breath painted from the wild ride we were just on.
Nodding my head, I turned my head to face him, too. “Drake, we will get through this. I don’t know how, but we will. I believe in us enough to know that,” I said.
Taking his hand, Drake cupped my face as he stared deep into my eyes. “I love you so much,” he said, as he leaned in and placed a soft and passionate kiss on my lips.
We lay entangled in one another’s arms until we both fell into a deep and relaxing sleep as the sun settled in the evening sky. It was just us and we were home.

“How about we go away for a night?” Drake said.
It was the next morning, and we were both sitting at the kitchen table enjoying a cup of coffee. After our eventful evening, we were both exhausted and needed a boost of caffeine.
“Where?” I ask, curious about what he is talking about. Drake is never spontaneous and hates to spend money when he doesn’t have to.
I can see from the look he is giving me, that he knows what I am thinking.
“Don’t act so surprised,” he chuckles. “I know we have had a couple of rough days, and I just want to spend a night away with just the two of us. No bar. No clubhouse. No work. Just me and you. I was thinking I would rent a suite at the hotel in town,” he finishes, taking my hand in his.
I glance down briefly and then look up to meet him in the eyes. “That sounds perfect,” I say.
