I placed my hand on Ryder’s shoulder and squeezed, probably tighter than I should have, but I offered him consolation. “It’sok. I knew you were getting something out of this. Besides, I’ve been looking for a way to make a few extra bucks,” I finished.

“Drake, if you need some money, just ask. Besides, I know I don’t contribute a lot around here since I went pro with racing. I like knowing that I can help you all out when needed,” Ryder says.

Shaking my head, I try to hide my smile. “I don’t need your money, little brother. But I do appreciate you stepping up and wanting to help us out.”

“Well, for the fourteen-hour drive to San Antonio, your hotel and food expenses, and the job itself, I am willing to pay you $250,000,” Josh said, his voice lowering a bit to keep other ears from hearing.

Oh shit! That was way more than what I had anticipated him offering. That would put me almost halfway to the amount I needed to buy that property I wanted. Plus, I could pay my guys well. Of course, I would offer the first spots to my brothers, but a few other guys could use the money too.

We all three stood and shook hands before Josh left. I turned away from Ryder and made a beeline straight to Lacy at the bar. When she looked up and spotted me coming, she smiled and lit up the entire space.

“Hey, what was that all about?” she asked, narrowing those beautiful eyes at me.

I moved my hands over to her waist and pulled her close to me. “Just a little business transaction,” I said, leaning down and kissing her on her plump lips.

Lacy placed a hand on my cheek and gazed lovingly into my eyes. “That’s great, baby. I was hoping we could have a movie night tonight. I feel like we’ve been running at a million miles an hour lately, and I need a calm night alone with you,” Lacy added, throwing her arms around my neck. Her scent of lavender and roses invaded my senses, and I could feel myself growing hard just imagining her in my arms tonight.

“Sounds great,” I said. “But first, I need to talk to you about something,” I said.

Lacy gave me a narrowed look and I swear; I could feel her mood shift with my words. Fuck, I hoped she was going to take my news well.

Chapter 9

Lacy

“You are going to do what?” I practically screamed.

After Drake told me he needed to talk to me about something, my heart leaped into my throat. At first, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, hearing him say he was going to be leaving in four days to be gone for three days-- completely threw me off.

“Calm down, Lacy. It’s a job,” Drake argued back. He glanced around the bar to make sure no one was listening or witnessing our little argument.

“No, this is a job,” I said, motioning to the bar. “What that guy Josh is offering you is a dangerous job.”

Drake sighed and then grabbed me by the hand. He pulled, and I had no choice but to jump off the stool and follow him. He practically dragged me up the stairs to our apartment with me muttering curses under my breath. Once we got inside, he closed the door and turned to face me.

“I need you to understand that this could bring a whole new way for the Raven’s Boys to earn money. With Axel and Ivy getting married, they could use the money. Storm could add more to his tattoo shop, Blaze and Remy could use the money for their wedding, too, Ryder wouldn’t have to worry so much about us, and I can use the money for our future,” he added.

My anger seemed to subside a little when he mentioned our future. Truth be told, Drake and I were seriously in love, but we rarely spoke about making future commitments. Hearing him say it, only solidified the fact that maybe we truly did, have a bigger future than just remaining boyfriend and girlfriend.

“Why is this so important?” I asked, taking a step closer to Drake. I needed to hear him say the words I so desperately craved to hear. I loved Drake with every fiber of my being. He stole my soul with his smile. He lit a fire inside my heart when he touched me. And, he fills me with an unexplainable joy when he tells me he loves me. But, sometimes, I need more. I need toknow that we aren’t just going to remain living this stagnant life forever.

Drake wrapped me in his arms and pulled me tight to his rock-hard chest. His beard tickled my cheek and I let out a slight giggle. I loved that feel, it made me feel like I was being held by a strong man.

He looked lovingly into my eyes and it gave me the feeling that everything was going to be alright. “Lacy, I can’t give you all of the details right now, but I need you to just trust me. I have a plan and it includes expanding my business. I need this additional income right now,” he added.

A brief moment of fear washed over me. “Are you having financial issues?”

Laughing, Drake threw his head back and I saw that familiar spark in his eyes. “No, not at all. Look, if it will make you feel any better, when I get back from this trip, I promise I will tell you why I am really doing this. You know, besides adding to the Raven name,” he said, smirking a little.

I knew in my heart that I should trust Drake. He was a successful businessman and had continued on the traditions of his family and the respect of his last name. I just needed to be patient and trust him with this too, even if I didn’t fully understand it all.

“Fine, I will trust you,” I said, puffing out my lip a little.

Drake leaned in and captured my bottom lip with his. He began to kiss me slowly at first, but as his hands began to roam over my body, his touches became more needy and fast-paced.

Moans escaped me, as he picked me up and held me against the apartment door. I quickly got to work undoing his belt buckle, as he swiftly lifted up my shirt with his teeth. Damn, this man was talented. He could strip me naked in the blink of an eye.

I worked on his pants until they fell to his ankles. In one swift movement, Drake entered me and I swear, I saw fireworks and stars shoot before me. I let my head fall back as Drake began thrusting in and out of me at a rhythmic pace. He captured one of my nipples in his mouth and I squealed as he carefully bit down. It was a pleasurable pain and it only drove me wilder.
