“Not all him,” Vadim cut in, appearing at her side. “Chen’s annoyingly persistent, and there’s no way I could have gone much longer without you.” Quinn couldn’t stop the happy sigh that escaped her lips. He was so fucking handsome. Vadim leaned down so his mouth brushed her ear. “There’s too many people to make this a real date. Can we get out of here?”
Goosebumps sprang to life on her skin. “Definitely.” She didn’t ask where they were going. She didn’t know if she even said goodbye to Tate.
He held her hand in the car. When they pulled up at the city’s only park, she turned toward him, eyebrow raised. “Gate’s closed.”
“Like I wouldn’t break a few rules to be alone with you.” Vadim kissed the back of her hand. “Come with me.”
She followed him to the trunk, where he pulled out a blanket emblazoned with the logo of his gym. “Might want to leave those very sexy shoes behind. Looks like we’re climbing the fence.”
“Seems like a lot of work to get me all to yourself. You know there’s a motel in town.”
“Get your mind out of the gutter, Quinn. My intentions are entirely pure.” He pointed at the sky. “We’re here for that. I don’t put out on the first date.”
Quinn snorted. He couldn’t be serious. There was no way he’d keep his hands to himself. She’d make sure of it.
She ditched the shoes, which made their height difference starker. “My littlekiska,” he murmured. He ditched his own shoes as well.
“Which means?”
He smiled as he slammed the trunk shut. “Kitten.”
The word played through her lady parts. She’d be a kitten if that’s what he wanted.
But after scrambling over the fence and finding a patch of grass studded with daisies, it seemed like Vadim really was intent on just being together. He smoothed the blanket down, sprawled onto his back, and held out his arms. Smiling, Quinn joined him. She lay on her side, hand splayed on his chest, as warmth seeped into every part of her. Even in a dress, the chill of the night passed her by.
“Tell me about the flight. About space.”
For a time, he remained silent. “I can’t believe I was up there just today. It feels like a lifetime ago already.”
“Was being up there everything you wanted it to be?”
He squeezed her bum. “And more. We’re alone, Quinn, on this planet. We are special. We are everything.”
Quinn nodded in the crook of his shoulder.
“Being up there made me want you more. I couldn’t have fathomed howbigthe earth is, yet how dwarfed by nothingness. It made me realize how important our connection is. I have Mila, and I love her. That’s biology. You and me, that’s magic. That’s fate. For us to find each other on this massive planet in a forgotten corner of the universe? I had to tell you how I felt about you after that.”
“I’m so glad you did,” Quinn whispered. She snuggled closer. “I’m so proud of you. You achieved your dream today. And I really want to fuck you now.”
He chuckled. “Shouldn’t we take it slow? Isn’t that what couples do?”
“Not us. You fucked me first, remember?”
He rolled on top of her without warning, his hard, heavy body pressing against hers. “I remember.” His tongue found her neck as his free hand wove into her hair. Quinn sighed against his cheek as desire poured into her core.Finally. With both hands, she grasped his cheeks and kissed him deeply, teasing with her tongue and teeth. His growl went straight to her nipples.
“Switch me,” she begged.
He obliged, pulling Quinn on top of him. She let her hands roam while her tongue fought for dominance with his. “Too. Much. Clothing,” she breathed between kisses. She shimmied her sheath dress up to her hips so she could at least straddle him.
“Why stop there?” he challenged. “You wanted to be bold. Be bold.”
Quinn stilled. Was Vadim suggesting she get naked in a public park? Where there might be guards or horny teenagers? Or coyotes?
Instead, she captured the sly tilt of his lips with hers and gave a slow grind of her hips.
“You can do better.”
He unzipped her dress all the way to the bum as encouragement. Or a dare.
