When he returned to her, he held her gaze, bracing himself above her with both arms. “I want you to guide me in.”
Damn, that was hot. Reaching down, she stroked the head of his cock through her wetness, squeezing as she positioned him. Then, incrementally, he slid in. Rowan would have cursed his slowness if it didn’t feel so good. Her eyes fluttered shut to block out stimulation, and she justfelt. “Oh,” she breathed, lifting her mouth to nibble at his ear. Her body was so tight. She hadn’t had sex for almost two years now, and she could tell. But she was so wet and aroused it didn’t matter how tight she was.
Wyatt lowered himself to one elbow so that he could caress her with his other hand. He kissed her, open-mouthed, as he began to surge and withdraw, his hips moving strongly. Then his free hand slid down to her ass. He held her as he surged into her, and Rowan felt heat building, then overflowing. Just the feel of him moving inside her… she lost her thoughts and words as pleasure centered in on her pelvis, then focused on her clit. She cried out, her body no longer under her control as she arched beneath him, waves of release slamming through her, one right after another. It took her a minute to catch her breath, and even then, every heartbeat sent a ripple of pleasure through her core.
Wyatt cried out, his hand tightening on her hip as he slammed into her hard, pushing as deep as he could go. His teeth were gritted, neck straining, and Rowan felt the heat of his release, even inside the condom.
It took several seconds for Wyatt to move, but she wasn’t going to voice a single complaint. Yes, he was heavy, but it was a weight she was more than happy to bear. This man was amazing. He’d just given her the best orgasm of her life, so he was allowed to catch his breath for a minute.
Eventually, he lifted his head. His gaze was a little unfocused, but he had a wry smile on his lips. “Sorry. I’ll move.”
Rowan cupped his face in her hands and kissed him. “You’re fine.”
But he drew out. An aftershock rolled through her, and she gasped, hating the loss of him inside her. She didn’t want to let him go, but he pulled away. “I’ll be back,” he promised.
She watched his perfect ass as he padded out of the room and down the hall to the bathroom. There was only one in the cabin, so it was a bit of a hike. She appreciated the view all the way. Then she sank into the mattress, her eyes fluttering shut. That had been… sublime. Euphoric. Epic. Her body had never done that dance before, or the aftershock. Her entire body was humming.
Her eyes jerked open as he climbed into the bed beside her, pulling the covers over them both. “You look very satisfied,” he murmured, ducking his head under the cover to kiss her nipple.
“I am,” she sighed. “That was really something. It sounds so lame to say it like that, but it was… momentous.”
He snorted, propping himself on his elbow on his side. “It was for me, too. It was a dream realized, then exceeded.”
He shifted, laying down beneath her and settling her head on his good shoulder. Rowan curled over him, loving his warmth and his strength. Her lids began to lower, and she brushed her fingers across his chest. “Thank you, Wyatt, for being more than I could have hoped for.”
Everything went dark.

Wyatt was woken by a cold nose. “Damn it, Echo.”
She shoved at him again, and his eyes popped open. Moving carefully, he sat up on the side of the bed. Rowan didn’t move, sleeping deeply. And she didn’t even stir as he left the bed. Reaching for his clothes, he carried them out into the hallway and got dressed. Echo gave him a look, and he knew she’d sensed something. Or maybe she just needed to go out. He hadn’t paid her a lot of attention tonight.
Moving to the rifle case Charlie had given him, he removed the night vision goggles. Slipping them on, he went to the side door, looking out. The lights around the lake were bright green flares, so he avoided those. Panning the area, he looked for anything out of the ordinary. Nothing moved. No extra bodies hiding near the dock or anything. He was being paranoid.
It had kept him alive, though.
He moved to the front of the house and did the same scan. No movement that he saw, no stray heat signatures. Returning to the back door, he opened it for Echo to go do her business.
Though he couldn’t see anything, the skin on the back of his neck was crawling. What the fuck was going on?
He felt hunted.
Striding back into the bedroom, he woke Rowan. She looked at him with fear in her eyes, and he hated that. “I don’t know what’s going on, but my skin is crawling. Find your gun and get ready to run.”
She scrambled out of bed, pulling on her clothes as fast as she could. Then she ran from the room, gathering up her personal items and stuffing them into her backpack. Wyatt grabbed his phone and saw the messages and missed calls. It was from Charlie.Get the fuck out of there!
Wyatt grabbed everything he could and bolted out of the house, throwing things in the back of the Suburban. “C’mon, Echo. Rowan!”
Echo came bolting out of the woods as fast as she could, racing to him. She whined as she jumped into the back seat. “I know, girl.”
Wyatt’s heart was racing as he went to the kitchen door. “We have to go!” he yelled, even as Rowan pushed past him. She flung her things into the car and jumped into the passenger seat. Wyatt didn’t even shut the door of the cabin, just took off around the truck. He cranked the ignition and put it into gear in the same second, but it took off, the wheels gripping the yard and pushing through. Wyatt turned down the hill toward the road. They hit pavement just as an explosion rocked the night.
Rowan screamed and turned in her seat, a hand going to her mouth. Wyatt knew what had happened without even looking. Her uncle’s cabin had been blown to pieces.
From his left, headlights flashed before the Suburban took a hit. Wyatt had a death grip on the steering wheel, maintaining the road. The big vehicle bounced and corrected, and Rowan bounced in her seat. “Turn around and put your seat belt on,” he yelled.
She did as he told her. Her head swinging back and forth as she looked for whoever had hit them.
