I smiled. “Duncan invited you,”
“Duh. He knows I will cut off his manhood and grill them in front of him if he dares so much to forget about me,”
I chuckled and tackled her. “Zoey!!” She shrieked with a sound of laughter following when we fell off the bed.
“Did you forget that you are a football player and with your excessive training became a freaken buff bot?”
I giggled, feeling slightly bad. I helped her up from the floor, smiling at her sheepishly. “Sorry, it’s just…”
“You are happy,” She noted.
I nodded. “I was always happy but I am just happier than I’ve ever been,”
She beamed. “I am glad but next time don’t dare go on daring adventures without me,”
“Deal. Just promise me that next time you run away make sure it’s not short notice and you better call me,”
Her smile grew. “Duncan told me that he got you a new phone,”
“Yeah, he’s just worried,” I followed her out of the bedroom.
“Pfft, worried? The man loves you and would do anything to protect you,” She snorted. “He is probably the only one of us who is treating this whole kidnapping thing seriously,”
I nodded. “I know,” I blushed when I kept thinking back at how he worshipped my body with kisses all over my skin. The feel of his lips still lingered all over me even after I took a shower.
“Why are you blushing?”
“Huh?” I caught her staring at me with a knowing look making my blush deepen.
“Should I even ask?”
“Uhm, I don’t think that’s a good idea,” I mumbled, not wanting to share what Duncan and I were up to.
I greeted the guys when we exited the house and found them seated on the porch. Ivy embraced me with a hug. “It’s good to see you. Sorry about last time,”
I laughed nervously. It was a bit awkward knowing that I walked in on her and Xander having a hot make-out session in her room with their hands on places that I don’t want to think about right now.
“Yeah, let’s forget that,”
She nodded and smiled. “Duncan told me about your case,”
It felt unjustified for not sharing many details with her about who I really am and that her brother is trying to help me keep my head in the game. “Yeah, it’s not been fun,” I admitted.
“What are you going to do?”
I raised my shoulders disheartened. “At this stage, I don’t know if I am truly Shane Martin’s daughter. All we know so far is that someone took me from my home when I was four years old,”
I took in all the faces of the guys and they shared the resemblance to how I felt. We couldn’t say for sure if someone was coming after me to fix their mistake but anyone in their right mind would want to cover up their mistake. Especially whenthat mistake is a legend's daughter who followed in her father’s footsteps.
Chapter Ten
“You don’t mind if I eat?” I asked taking out the wrap Duncan got me when he picked me up front work for practice.
He cast me a side glance. “I honestly don’t mind,”
I took a bite from the wrap, moaning at how the flavors swirled around in my mouth giving me a mouthgasm and how good it felt to have some food since I neglected to have breakfast this morning because of my mind being somewhere else.
“Do you want a piece?” I asked holding the wrap out to him. While he kept his eyes focused on the road, he took a generous bite.
