It takes real sacrifice to make a relationship work.
I wasn’t looking for that short-term relationship where I am only with a girl because I felt a certain attraction toward her. I want to love her, care for her and spend every aching day growing old with her.
CHAPTER FORTY-SIX
I opened my eyes at an annoying beep sound only to come to realize that this wasn’t my room or bed I was lying sprawled on. I winched when I rolled over to push myself upright. I found the beeping sound when I found my phone going crazy with messages.
I picked it up just to place it back down when I saw they were from my dad.
I broke curfew.
“Oh, god,” I was in so much trouble.
I felt like lying back down, pulling the blanket back over my head, and getting this day over with. Instead, I decided to act like an adult and stand up from Brandon’s bed.
I left his room and headed downstairs where I found him wearing only shorts while picking up the trash from last night. I also noticed a pillow and a blanket on the couch which meant he slept downstairs.
“Morning, how are you feeling?” He asked and I couldn't stop my eyes from taking in his sculpted shoulders down to his full pack of abs. He was breathtaking. I have seen him posing in magazines where he wasn't wearing a shirt, but heck this was a completely different experience. Something moved inside of my chest and I had no clue what that feeling was.
“Aside from the headache, not bad,” I answered, pulling myself out of a trans.
“I’ve got Advil and coffee,” He offered and I sent a quick prayer up to heaven that he didn't notice I ogled him.
“Sounds amazing, but I have to head home. My dad has been sending me text messages non-stop and I have a feeling I’m getting grounded all over again.” I explained.
“At least just drink something for your head.” He suggested.
It was maybe a good idea since I was going to get it when I get home. The rebellious side of me doesn’t want to quit causing chaos between my father and me. At one stage in my life, I truly loved her, but now she was causing trouble.
“What happened last night after I had that drink?” I know we ordered a huge amount of pizza and I took a walk on the wild side when I tasted that amazing drink Jake mixed.
“I didn’t do anything that I am going to regret, right?” I won’t ever get over myself if I did something inappropriately.
He placed a steaming mug down in front of me.
“You fell asleep and I took you up to my room, away from the party so you could sleep in peace.” He explained.
“I took your bed over while you took the couch?” I’ve heard about gentlemen but never expected to meet one at this age.
He nodded. “I have you feeling that you wouldn’t have been too thrilled about the idea that I slept next to you.”
I shrugged. “I kind of trust you, I don’t know why, but I just do.” It was true. My trust is limited and has always been, but there was something about him that made me feel I could trust him.
“That’s a relief, but I do respect boundaries and the fact that you are a girl. It’s the right thing to do.” I smiled into my mug when I took a sip.
“Is your mom very strict?” I asked, shooting him a grin filled with respect.
He nodded.
“I wasn’t the most gracious man at some point in my life and like other guys, I wanted things and did stuff that I regret today, but I learned from them.”
“I don’t learn from my mistakes. I keep screwing things up and keep pushing the limits of my father’s temper.” I noted.
“Is he going to freak out on you?” He asked.
I nodded. “Probably. I missed a whole week of work concentrating on my hockey. Yesterday, I left the house without informing him where I was going and slept over at your place without telling him. He is going to be mad if he isn't already.”
I was aware that I am nineteen years old and I’m not supposed to be grounded because I am now an adult, but I respected my father. He wasn’t always right especially about grounding me, but I am obeying his orders so I would receive his respect and trust.
