I never knew that it even existed until I found out that she was part of a dancing competition where she won the cup.

“Thanks to Elizabeth who pushed me to extremes,” Hailey remarked.

“It’s been great seeing the world and doing what I love without having someone holding me back, but it gets lonely sometimes.”

Her break-up with Chase wasn’t a secret. He was a jerk for what he did to her. Breaking up with her because she wants to follow her dreams and not his.

“Have you heard anything from him since you became the topic of every conversation?”

She barely mentions him and I would have never known she used to be in a serious relationship if it wasn’t for Jaylin and Camille.

She shook her head. “Only heard from Travis that Chase is back in town and it sounds permanent. Not that it has to do anything with me or bothers me.”

I was probably imagining it, but I was sure for a moment I heard the longing in her voice.

“This is probably a dumb question, but I am going to ask anyway. Do you miss him?”

I don’t do relationships, but according to Jaylin, they had something solid once.

“I do sometimes, but then I remind myself that he wanted to keep me away from this dream and he lost in the end because he couldn’t see my worth.”

I couldn’t agree more.

All of us have a dream, passion, and talent. We are given a life to chase down our dreams, not only to fall in love but also to get married and have kids. Life has so much to give even if love has to wait.

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

“Hey, who is that chick with Sasha?” Jared asked, gliding over the ice towards me while his focus was on the girl sitting beside Sasha.

I’ve never seen her before and I was aware Sasha has older friends, I just haven’t seen her hang out with them lately.

“I have no idea,” I pulled up my shoulders having no idea who she was.

“Her name is Hailey and she is some kind of famous dancer,” Jonah explained, skating toward us.

“From what I heard them talking, she is from Los Angeles and she’s friends with Sasha’s childhood friends.” He carried on with an eye roll.

“What’s got you all gloomy?” I asked him, noticing his off-mood.

He shrugged and I caught him looking at Sasha with a sorrowful look in his eye. I pulled him aside while the guys were having a conversation that I didn’t want to be a part of.

“Talk to me, little man. What’s going on?” I asked, pushing the puck over to him and having him shoot it back over to me while we glided over the ice, opposite of each other.

“Sasha has all these cool friends while I have none.” He muttered.

“Aren’t I classified as your friend? I thought I was at least awesome.” I teased him and chuckled when he gave me a pointed stare.

“You don’t think you are worthy enough to be her friend?” It was only an observation.

He nodded.

“Hey, come on. You are way too hard on yourself.” I pressed and then stopped skating.

“Sasha’s an adult and she makes friends with people her age or older because that’s how she is. Just because she doesn’t call you her friend doesn’t mean she doesn’t care about you. She’s at every practice on time and takes care of you.”

“Only because her father grounded her after she got locked up again.” I frowned at his remark.

“She got locked up?” Was this what she meant that she screwed up?
