“Seems like you are doing just fine,” She remarked smugly as if she was ready to break-word to Jaylin.

I could barely form words and she must have noticed with the smirk she gave me before she left.

I glanced back at Brandon. The edge of his mouth was tilted up into a confident smirk.

“Are we going to talk about it?” He asked, cupping my cheek in the palm of his hand.

“Only if you promise to kiss me again,” Hopefully this time we won’t get interrupted.

He nodded and tilted his head forward to meet my lips. He paused just inches away from brushing my lips with his. “Why the change of heart?” He softly asked.

I raised a shaky hand to his face and stroked my fingers over the ridges of his jaw. “Nothing changed. I only got to the point where I stopped running away from the truth.”

His lips met mine only for a brief moment and I wished it lasted longer, but I sensed he was conflicted and I didn’t blame him. He was acting how I was in the beginning—he didn’t trust my intentions and I couldn’t be mad because I am responsible for it.

“How do I know you won’t run away again?”

“You don’t and neither do I, but I am not willing to lose you again. You brought a spark back into my life and broke through the protective barriers of my heart.”

“When I love someone, I do it with my whole heart and I am willing to fight for your trust because that’s how much I love you.”

I watched the spark return to his eyes. “Yeah?” The one side of his mouth curved upwards.

I nodded. “Losing you only made me come to my senses and with the help of my friends—I got over my doubt because you are the best part of my life.”

“Dammit, Angel, I am usually the one with the smartass and wooing words.”

I chuckled and without asking permission looped my arms around his shoulders.

“I don’t want to be without you for another day, friends or lovers.” I am willing to sacrifice my emotions and feelings just so that I wouldn’t be without his presence.

He inspired me to become a better version of myself and helped me to overcome my hurt.

“That’s not necessary because I am not going anywhere. I am staying right here and I would like a chance with you as your boyfriend, Adams.”

“Are you asking me out?” I asked gazing up into his eyes.

He nodded.

“Well,” I began finding his lips.

“I accept,” Our lips met to seal the deal, making the universe that once voted against us, vanish.

CHAPTER SEVENTY-TWO

I don’t know how we got back into this situation again where my heart was barely keeping up with beats per second.

Her sleeping face was resting on my chest and angled, facing me with her arm wrapped around my torso and her body, hugging mine. Completely unaware that I was having a stalking moment where I just couldn’t stop staring at her.

Unable to keep my hands to myself, I pushed my fingers through the soft locks of her hair before I softly brushed my fingertips down the side of her face making me smile when she subconsciously snuggled against my hand

Sasha-lee Adams, the girl I have been crushing on for years, loves me.

I was never going to get over her or the feelings I have for her.

Sasha barely moved in my arms when I scooted out from under her, grabbing a pillow and pushing it gently underneath her head when my phone started going off.

It was only Jake, wanting to know where I was and if I was alright. He was acting like an overprotective brother which I didn’t mind, but he didn’t have to worry about me wanting to take my own life.
