His jaw went slack and dropped open from surprise. “You wouldn’t.”

“Then stop with the swearing,” I suggested.

“No.” He insisted.

“Then you give me no choice.” I shrugged.

His eyes rounded and he started to panic at the thought of his mother finding what a bad boy he has been. “Sasha, wait. Fine, I will stop with the bad words if you promise not to tell.”

I concealed a smile. “Good, now go and annoy your teachers.”

CHAPTER FIVE

Sasha-Lee Adams

A girl with many achievements, unbeatable records, and an untamed heart that nobody understands.

I haven’t seen or heard about her since she stopped playing years ago. Everyone knew her story about her sick mother who passed away and the world of hockey didn’t just lose one legend but two. She walked away and never looked back.

Her, wild-forest green eyes looked at me, covering up the emotions she learned to suppress over the years. Her beauty was no secret. Boys back in school made bets thinking that she was lesbian because she never showed interest in any boy. Only to learn that she was in love with her sports and gave everything to come out on top.

She wasn’t shy and I guess that’s the part of her that made me remember her. Besides her leadership skills and talent. Fast on her feet, strong-willed and courageous.

I just didn’t prefer her as a girl who is into skateboarding but then again, she was a mystery. I always admired her from afar and never dared to walk up to her until now.

She seemed easy to talk to but realize that she didn’t like me very much and I had a feeling it had to do with who I am or was.

I couldn’t convince myself to drag my eyes away from her when she walked away with her brother. She was still beautiful as ever and I was still a sucker who couldn’t get over it. Her soft bronze-tanned skin still tempted me. Including her full lips that were pulled up into a scowl most of the time.

I shook my head at myself and decided to head over to Jake’s house.

After a few knocks on the door, it opened to reveal his ex-girlfriend, Stacey. “Brandon.” She greeted with a devilish smile unraveling on her lips.

“Stacey,” I acknowledge with a disapproving tone.

I can’t believe he is still making the mistake of seeing her.

“Jake is upstairs.” She said, stepping outside when a car pulled up and I didn’t want to bother to find out who was behind the steering wheel.

I headed inside, shutting the door behind me, and went upstairs where I found Jake getting dressed.

“Oh, hey man. Sorry, I missed your call. Was kind of busy.” He said with a smirk playing his lips.

“You are still seeing our ex after she cheated on you?” I questioned, crossing my arms in front of my chest, still confused as to why he wastes his time on her.

“We aren’t dating. Just fooling around.” He said as if it wasn’t bad enough for him.

“Until one of you gets hurt?” I questioned

“I don’t remember putting you in charge of my life.” He remarked.

“As your best friend, it is my job to look out for you.”

“Well, as your best friend. I have to inform you that you are not a saint yourself. You are also playing around with Ashley’s feelings.”

Ashley was meant to be a friend, but a few months ago she expressed her feelings for me and I had no intention of getting into a romantic relationship with her. I turned her down and ever since it has been hard facing her.

“I am not screwing around with her.” Jake rolled his eyes at my comment.
