“Sash! Are you two joining us or what?” Megan called.
“Yeah, just give me a minute,” I called back wanting to say my goodbyes to my dad and inform him about my plans for tonight before he sends the sheriff out to find me.
Brandon and I left once we said our farewells and followed Megan over to where she lived which was still with her parents.
I knew her parents were rich people even though I have never been to her house, I secretly knew they were living in a big house, but what we pulled up to, left me speechless.
“Their house is big as a mansion,” Brandon took the words right out of my mouth.
If she or her parents could afford a place like this, what is she doing wanting to become a hockey player? She could have joined international pro-leagues that would put her on their team without questions asked.
“Come on, the party is in the back,” Megan said when we stepped out of Brandon’s car and made our way across the lawn.
The inside of the house was even more impressive than the outside.
We followed Megan through the house to where our friends were already having drinks and making conversation.
I caught Clarissa’s knowing look when I gazed around the background and couldn’t believe that one person can own all of this.
“Yeah, I had the same look on my face the first I was invited over.” She said, handing me a sealed soda and patting the empty spot next to her—gesturing for me to take a seat.
“I grew up with her and I never knew her parents were this loaded,” I admitted, scooting over for Brandon to sit down, greeting Jake when he came over to join us.
“She doesn’t talk about it because she doesn’t feel the need to,” Clarissa remarked.
“So, I heard you girls made the nationals and as from Friday you are going to fight for the championship,” Jake said.
We nodded our heads. “It’s going to be a good and fun year. It’s been a very long time since we had a girls’ team competing.” He said sharing a look with Brandon who kept his face blank.
“You should have seen the looks we received from the moment we got there.” Tammy joined in, sitting down next to Clarissa.
“Don’t you mean how they glared at Sasha?” Nicole remarked.
I smiled when I caught Brandon giving me the eye.
“Or how good we handled all of those bitches?” Briana said slumping down on the couch beside me and almost sitting on my lap when she misjudged the space between Clarissa and me.
“I for one had fun when Sasha kept her cool to the end and had those bitches’ stepping on their big puffy lips for underestimating her,” Megan said re-joining us with Jared by her side.
I shared an amused glance with Brandon when I caught him gazing at me the moment, I saw them.
“Sounds more like you girls were in some kind of war,” Jake noted.
“Oh, hell, yeah, it was a war alright, but we handled it like true queens/rebels,” Tammy said with pride.
“We kicked ass out there and there wasn’t a single moment I regret following Sasha out on the field,” Megan said, holding her glass in the air with the rest of the girls joining in.
“To the absolute best captain out there. Trusting her instincts and team to the end. We are bringing that cup home one way or another because it’s our year.” Megan continued.
“You deserve it,” She finished looking me dead in the eye and I felt every word and promise she made.
“We deserve it, the outcasts who didn’t get picked,” I said raising my pitiful soda.
They cheered and laughed as they made jokes between them.
Briana suddenly jumped up from the couch taking everyone by surprise.
“That’s my song,” She then grabbed Megan by the arm and almost dragged her inside.
