“Feion wouldn’t blink if you kill me. He would still wish to meet with you.” A bead of sweat rolled down her face, yet she remained calm.
“You have no idea how much I want to kill something right now.”
Resigned to her fate. “Do as you wish.”
“You are brave, but you would regret those words. I would make you regret them when I scoop your eye from its socket and shove it right up your ass.”
I withdrew my blade, and she sighed with relief that I did. I walked away, wanting to destroy everything in my sight. The conversation told me more than I needed to know. First, he seemed to have information on the alien in my care, which would greatly aid me.
Second, he had spies crawling around my ship, and my crew was willing to betray me!
Third, that cock stain needed to die for his blatant disrespect!
Hmm, so they call these aliens humans… Human.
“Swarti.” I rounded on him, intending to question him about earlier when he called my alien a human.
“Sir?”
“Nothing.”
“I think you should go to this meeting with a clear head and open mind and just hear him out. He is the wealthiest man here and one of the one percent of the planet. I’m sure your human will also enjoy the outing.”
“I suppose.” The desire to return to my…humanwas strong. What a fool I was for leaving him alone! What if a member of my crew was transporting him to Feion as we spoke?
“Sir!” I heard him call after me. I didn’t give a damn! I ran through the streets, pushing every unfortunate drunk party reveler out of my way as I ran down the wet, bright-lit neon streets until I reached the large sign displaying the Lucky Stars Hotel.
A soldier informed me of the suite I was staying in, and when I reached the large white double doors, I saw two other guards posted at the door.
“You’re dismissed,” I said to the guards as they stood ready.
I entered the room half expecting the human to be gone or worse, his head stuffed onto a pike, his soft eyes dull with life. But he was there, still playing our …as he called it ‘cat-and-mouse’ game but now wasn’t the time for games.
“Nice place so far,” he said as I let him out of the bubble. He stretched and shook his legs.
“Yeah, nice.” I placed my hand over his mouth to hush him up, preventing him from speaking another word. Writing what I wanted to say was out of the question because he couldn’t read my language, only speak it. I needed to get us out of this hotel in the most innocent way possible and as fast as possible. What a fool I was to accept anything from someone I didn’t inspect before my arrival, and even then, would it have mattered? He knew I had one of these humans before we landed. There was no telling how long he had been watching me.
“Take a bath in the solution we prepared for you. It’s an extra precaution to keep you from getting sick here. We’ll be going out soon.”
“Okay.” He moved his shoulders. He sensed something off after I covered his mouth.
“I’m not stupid,” I said in contemplation. “You only pretend to enjoy my company to plot your escape.”
“I hadn’t thought about it.”
His attempt at a lie delighted me.
“I’m not angry. It’s the smart thing to do. I would do the same in your shoes. I enjoy your deviousness. Just as much as I enjoy running my fingers through your soft hair and kissing your lips. I love how much smaller you are than even our women, yet you seem to embody our spirit.”
“You could have stopped at my hair.” He smiled.
I laughed and kissed him. I meant those words, but I’m sure they would also come with a price, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pay it. But now, this Feion would know a small piece of information he could use to his advantage.
My human was with me against his will and plotting an escape from me, both very much the truth. But I was making my own play, and its success depended on my human's decisions.
I slipped on my slimmer armor, getting rid of the large pauldrons, cape, and anything else that was bulky or could get in my way.
That armor was for showboating anyway, though my siblings enjoyed the fearsome pomp of entering a battle in such attire.
