"I've almost got this running," he said. "I just have to add the rest of the inventory today and tomorrow, and then you should be good to go by Friday."
"You're amazing, Drew, a lifesaver."
He gave an awkward shrug. "It wasn't that difficult."
"It was for me. I owe you so much more than I'm paying you. As soon as I bring in some cash, I'm giving you a bonus."
"It's fine. Don't worry about it."
"Well, I am worried about it, because you deserve to be paid for your time."
"I'm going to work on the website after I get this finished," Drew said, changing the subject. Clearly, he wasn't comfortable talking about money. "That will take longer. I can code, but I'm not great at design."
"One of my old friends does website design. I can ask her if she can help us out."
"Well, maybe you just want to have her do it then. Whatever."
Despite his carelesswhatever, she could see that Drew really wanted to build the site, and she already knew that Gianna had more business than she could handle. "She told me she was swamped, so I'll ask her about design only, or if she could give us some tips."
He shrugged, his gaze on the screen. But when the doorbell chimed, he immediately looked up, and then he stood up.
She went to open the door, welcoming in Delores, Grace, and Bea, who were followed by the beautiful Cassie.
"My granddaughter is going to join us, and her friend Jeannie, too. She should be here shortly," Delores said. "If that's all right with you, Molly?"
"Of course. The more the merrier. You can all head back to the studio."
As the older ladies moved toward the studio, Cassie lingered by the front counter. "Hi, Drew," she said.
Drew's eyes glittered as he smiled at her.
The kid actually smiled.Molly was shocked to see something other than a scowl cross his face. He had that in common with Adam.
"Hey," Drew said, as the two continued to stare at each other.
"I'm going to my friend's birthday party on Friday night," Cassie added. "Do you want to come?"
"Yeah, sure."
The front door opened, and another pretty girl walked in. "Sorry I'm late," she said.
"You're fine," Cassie told her, then looked at me. "We're not late, are we?"
"No. I'm going to go in the studio and get everyone warmed up. Just head on in when you're ready."
As she left, she heard Cassie introduce Jeannie to Drew. She smiled to herself, wondering if the real reason Drew had come in so early was to run into Cassie. Well, it was nice to see him happy and interested. After hearing about his mom and his sister, she thought he more than deserved some attention and happy times.
She walked into the studio where the ladies had their mats and blankets laid out and various pieces of apparatus, including blocks and belts. There was a good energy in the room. The women were excited to practice yoga, and so was she.
"Thank you again for doing this," Delores said. "We know you have a lot going on."
"Actually, I want to thank you for suggesting I start the class this week, because I need it, too. We're all going to de-stress together." As she moved to the table to turn on the music, Cassie and her friend Jeannie joined the group. She dimmed the lights and then moved to the front of the room. "We're going to start with some warm-up poses. Please go at your own pace. If something is uncomfortable, let me know. There is no pain in yoga. It's all about flexibility, strength, and stretching. We relax the body, and we relax the mind. That's where you find peace."
She just needed to practice what she preached, she thought, as she led them through a series of breathing exercises.
All of her problems, including the sexy detective, were on hold for the next sixty minutes.
He'd been put on hold. Adam tapped his fingers impatiently on the phone. He'd spent the past few days trying to track down Nina Williamson, the former manager of A Better You, and he thought he might be close. But now he was waiting again.
