She got up. "Well, at least we found out one thing."

"Don't tell me what it was," he warned.

"I don't have to. You already know. You might not want to want me, Adam, but you do."

"It will pass."

"Like a bad sunburn, huh?"

That wasn't the worst comparison. He'd definitely gotten too close to the sun. "I don't want to hurt you, Molly."

She gave him a thoughtful look. "I think you mostly don't want to hurt yourself, but we can play it your way. Don't worry about it, Adam. I don't have any expectations. I specialize in not expecting anything."

He wanted to tell her that wasn't the right way to live, but she was walking away, and he'd already made a mess of what he'd been trying to say, so maybe it was time to just shut up.

ChapterThirteen

Her feelingsfor Adam were going to pass, Molly told herself a dozen or more times between when he dropped her off Monday night to when she went downstairs to set up her yoga class on Wednesday morning. She'd hoped that more than twenty-four hours without an Adam sighting would have dimmed his image in her mind, but he was still there, and he was way too bright and vivid. She probably needed this yoga class as much as her students. She needed to forget about Adam, forget about all the things she still had to do for work, and just breathe in and out for an hour.

Her phone buzzed, and she smiled when Chloe's name flashed across the screen. "Hi, Chloe. How are you?"

"I'm good. You?"

"Better than I was. I've cleaned out most of the store. I'm now organizing the products that I want to sell, and I'm going to teach my first yoga class this morning. Phoebe's friends insisted they couldn't miss another class."

"Phoebe's friends?"

"A trio of older ladies, but they seem quite lively: Delores, Grace, and Bea."

Chloe laughed. "I know that group, and they are fun. I'm not sure I can see them doing yoga, though."

"Apparently, it keeps them sane and less bitchy toward their husbands."

"Wow. I didn't know yoga could do that."

"It can work miracles. I'm looking forward to an hour of calm before I get to work. I'm going to open the store on Friday for a soft opening and then hopefully be ready for the sidewalk sale on Saturday."

"That should be great. You'll get a lot of traffic both days."

"I hope so."

"So, you're probably too busy, but I wanted to invite you to Lizzie's inn tonight."

"Oh, what's the occasion?"

"We're having a bonanza baking session in the kitchen to prepare lots and lots of desserts to sell at the festival this weekend. We've done it for the last two years, and it's really fun. We drink wine and ice cakes while Lizzie's actual chef does most of the baking, but we're good for decorating, packaging, and chatting. We also do a little sampling."

"That sounds fun and fattening. I'm in."

"Great. We're starting at six. All the girls will be there."

A girls' night was just what she needed. "Should I bring anything?"

"A bottle of wine would be great."

"That's easy. I'll see you tonight." She ended the call and then walked out of the studio and into the shop. Drew was sitting on a stool at the counter, his gaze focused on the computer screen.

"You're in early." She'd given him a key the day before, after he'd spent hours working on the inventory and sales software that had completely baffled her.
