I hope you had "fun" tonight. I know I did. Goodnight, darling.

He sucked in his breath and sat up abruptly when he read her incoming message, remembering those exact words affecting him earlier that day in the dimly lit bar.

BookwormBarbie:

I did. I like it when you call me that.

Son of a bitch,Jagger began to wonder.

Just as he went to set his phone down, it started ringing.

"What now?" he barked into the receiver after seeing who was calling him.

"Is that any way to speak to your old man, boy?" the voice answered, crackling through the silence.

Jagger sat up and leaned his back against the iron headboard. "Yeah, it's pretty valid, considering you've been gonefor two years now and only call to have me clean up your messes."

"Our messes."

"Your messes," Jagger hissed through the phone and angrily threw the covers off himself to begin dressing. "I've made the Serpent Pit a decent place while you've been gone. And the Renegade Rebels have been staying out of trouble. I don't need you to constantly stir up more bullshit from across the fucking states."

There was a pause before Warren spoke. "Listen, I know you want out, but this lifestyle doesn't just go away. Especially with The Dregs around, okay?"

"I am excruciatingly aware of that."

"Good. So, you know why I need a favor."

Jagger pulled the phone away from his ear long enough to throw a long-sleeved black shirt on. "Fucking hell."

"Listen, The Dregs have been peddling drugs to the kids around town. There have been several deaths just this past week. Now, I know this isn't a usual call, but-"

Jagger cut him off as he finished pulling his jeans and boots on. "Oh, so I'm not burying bodies tonight?"

"Not if you don't want to, you little shit!" Warren yelled into the phone, and Jagger stalked out of his apartment. He was already on his way to the old red '98 Ford truck he used for situations like this, grabbing his jacket.

"Now, pay attention. They have a shack located off the highway about thirty meters into the woods right outside the city. I need you to return it to the bar and hide it in my office. I will try to come back soon and get rid of it. They won't have enough connections to get another shipment that big for a while, and until I find who they're getting this shit from, we need to cut them off at their knees while we can."

"Don't worry about coming back, I'll get rid of it tonight."

"And how are you going to do that?"

Jagger turned over the engine and grabbed a cigarette from his pocket before answering, "I learned a lot over the years, pop. You taught me how to deal, kill, destroy and hide. You think I can just forget?"

There was a pause.

"Make sure to grab some backup from the warehouse; Gremlin should be there to help."

"Already on my way."

Another long pause.

"Don't do anything stupid, boy. But if you have to," Warren let out a low chuckle. "Hide some bodies."

CHAPTER SEVEN

Sadie had plans to meet with Travis at the local coffee shop near the Serpent Pit the following day. She was getting nervous and shuffled around in her seat a little while she took a sip from her second cup of coffee. He had texted her he would be late, but she didn't think he meant THIS late.

She spent the last hour in the corner, sitting on an uncomfortable wicker chair by the window, going over the events from the previous couple of days, wondering about the repercussions she would face. And then there was the 'Secret' stranger she had met online.
