Page 46 of Ice, Ice… Maybe?

No, right now, she was where she wanted to be, and if whoever was up, moving to investigate the noise, well, they could just get over it. They sat there, kissing and holding each other close. Every once in a while, they would be interrupted by a little laugh between them just creating a special feeling in her soul.

“I hope all of our kisses are filled with laughter and joy,” she breathed against his lips and felt his smile in her very soul.

“They always will be,” he murmured tenderly. “Or I’ll do everything I can to create that same feeling of happiness within you for as long as I can.”

“I’m so glad we’re here.”

“I’m so glad you gave me a chance.”

“And I’m so glad you two are gonna keep it down out here,” Matthew’s voice interrupted them from the doorway. “Sheesh, I’ve never seen a bunch of hyenas French kissing before, but I guess I can check that off the ol’ bucket list. Good gravy, y’all – what’s sex between ya’ gonna sound like? A couple of donkey’s braying?”

“Good night, Matthew,” Becca said firmly as Travis cracked up laughing, pressing his forehead to hers in obvious disbelief and embarrassment…

“Eeehawwww um-baby, um yeah…right there… eeeawww!” Matthew mocked in a nasally sound, snorting and creating the braying through his sinus cavity for obvious inflection to get his point across.

“GOOD NIGHT?!” she hollered.

“Night, Becca. See ya’ at the hockey game, Travis – and thanks again for the tickets, bro.”

“Anytime,” Travis replied with the patience of a saint, smiling as Matthew brayed one more time for good measure in the distance before sliding the back door shut on the house. “I like your family.”

“Are you sure about that?” she blurted out as they collapsed against each other, hugging and laughing once more, just holding each other close in the moonlight.

CHAPTER 15

BECCA

Returningto reality had been tough.

After hiding away at the family’s farm all weekend, being able to relax and unwind in a peaceful setting combined with stealing kisses from Travis every time no one was looking— well, it was a harsh awakening going back in to work Monday morning. The first phone call of the day was a royal butt-chewing by an irate customer. The second one was frustrating, but the third had her texting for sympathy.

I know you’re busy, but can I just say that I would have liked to have paused life yesterday at about lunchtime.

Same here.

Coach is on a bender and hasn’t stopped screaming at us yet. I think Gerry is actually going to end up benched if he keeps talking back – and Theo?

Theo hasn’t said two words to anyone today and is in a horrible mood.

Ouch. I’m sorry to hear that.

I’m sorry you are having a rough day, too. I can’t wait to see you Wednesday at the game. I would invite you over this evening, but my uncle wants to talk to me about something.

I need to go to the grocery and do laundry.

Adulting.

Tell me about it.

I miss you.

I miss you too – can I call you later? I wanna hear your voice. ♥?

Same. ♥?

Good news, though – stitches come out Tuesday morning!

Don’t get them back Wednesday night at the game.
